“ | What do you get, Agent Prentiss? A serial killer? I don't think so. | „ |
~ Mr. X to Emily Prentiss. |
Mr. X is the overarching antagonist of the Criminal Minds episode "Killer App".
He is the CEO of Peakstone, a private military corporation, and former boss of Tori Hoffstadt and Jake Logan who ordered the military project that resulted in the bombing of a local elementary school and caused Jake to become a traumatized serial killer. Upon discovering that Jake is targeting members who worked on the project, X uses his company in an attempt to kill Jake and cover up his corruption.
He was portrayed by Wallace Langham.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He runs Peakstone, a private military firm that is implied by Alvez and the Sheriff to be extremely harsh on crime and opposition, being described by Alvez as a "Different Breed".
- He created the drone project and tricked thousands of teenagers (including Jake Logan) into massacring thousands of terrorists, which traumatized the teens when they realized what truly happened.
- On the last assignment of the project, the pilots mistakenly bombed an elementary school thinking it was a terrorist camp. While this was a mistake, X shows no remorse for this (a letter from Peakstone even calls the dead kids "Fun-Sized Terrorists") and he only shut down the project to protect Peakstone's reputation.
- Because of the entire project and the death of the kids, Jake Logan developed PTSD and created his own military drone, killing 7 people who worked on the project, as well as a security guard who tried to protect them.
- When Jake abducts Tori, Peakstone's project manager, X refuses to rescue her, instead having Jake's drone hacked, leading to Jake getting repeatedly shot by the drone.
- After Tori survives Jake's attack, he sends a mercenary disguised as a cop to shoot her in the hospital before she is saved by the BAU.
- While the Heinous Standards for Criminal Minds are extremely high, the act of bombing an entire school is an original crime and is heinous enough for Mr. X to qualify.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- While certainly heinous, the act of bombing the school, and the entire drone project in general, is off-screen and is only really mentioned by the main characters rather than explored more. However, the project still has an impact on the episode, as it results in Jake Logan becoming a spree killer and ruins Tori's life, so this is a minor prevention.
Trivia[]
- He appears the least out of all of the NPEs in Criminal Minds, only showing up in two brief scenes.
