Tighten has declared this article is to be renamed to
"Mr. Freeze (Matsudaverse)" for the following reasons:
to match the page on villains wiki
"It's Tighten, not Hal!"

Have an ice evening.
~ One of Mr. Freeze's most famous lines

Victor Freeze, best known as Mr. Freeze, is a major antagonist in the Cartoon Network animated series The Batman.

He was once a common jewel thief, but after a run-in with Batman and a cryogenics lab, he developed some unnatural freezing abilities. While at first, Freeze's goals were relatively standard as he continued to steal jewels, he soon realized he was meant for bigger things and his plots became far more sinister. Unlike his predecessor from Batman: The Animated Series, this version of Mr. Freeze embraces his condition and has practically no sympathetic qualities. He is also one of Batman's most dangerous opponents throughout his crime-fighting career.

He was voiced by Clancy Brown, who also played Byron Hadley in The Shawkshank Redemption, Uka Uka in the Crash Bandicoot video games, President Luthor in Justice League, Long Feng in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Yakone in The Legend of Korra and Gunmar in Tales of Arcadia.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Prior to becoming Mr. Freeze, he was still a ruthless criminal who even tried to kill Batman in the cryogenics lab.
  • When he awoke from being frozen, he coerced one of the scientists running tests on him into building a suit that would allow him to control his abilities.
  • He orchestrated several jewellery heists using his newfound ice powers, freezing many of his victims in the process.
  • He revealed his identity to Batman simply to torment him over the fact that he was responsible for Mr. Freeze getting his powers.
  • He tried to kill Batman on multiple occasions throughout the series.
  • He froze an innocent homeless man just because he remembered him being in the way on the road on the day of his accident.
  • He tried to declare himself emperor of Gotham and built a fortress where he froze many police solid.
  • He worked with Firefly to place Gotham in a permanent winter so the forces of the city would be too weak to fight them.
  • He froze all of the guests at Bruce Wayne's party.
  • He took Alfred hostage to claim a treasure stolen from the royal family by Penguin's ancestors.
  • While he does get imprisoned by Rumor, this does not make him a scapegoat as he deserved it for everything that he did. Not to mention, when Batman saves him he joins the other villains in fighting him and Robin, showing no gratitude.
  • He froze Superman after he was weakened by red sun radiation, intending for him to suffocate in the ice.
  • He was willing to let a pilot die in a plane crash just so he could collect the diamond on board for part of his plan.
  • He used the diamond as an energy amplifier for a machine set to place Gotham in an eternal winter.
  • When his plan failed, he froze himself for 1,000 years so he could succeed in a future without Batman. When he awoke, he tormented and froze the future Gotham over. It got to a point where the civilians were so desperate to stop him that they searched the Batcave for answers.
  • Although it’s shown in a flashback that before his accident he kept pictures of an unnamed girlfriend in his car, we’re given no information on her beyond this. If he ever loved her, it seems he subverted that love as he never mentioned her afterwards and was more than willing to freeze Gotham, which would likely have endangered her along with the rest of the city.
  • Unlike most Mr. Freeze counterparts, he lacks any sympathetic or anti villain traits and has few redeeming qualities.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He has a small sense of honor as after Commissioner Gordon saved him from the Joining, he returned the favor and gave a nod of appreciation.

Trivia[]

  • Mr. Freeze and Black Mask, one of the two The Batman villains to be Near Pure Evil.
  • This Version alongside Mr. Freeze (2013) are the only two versions of Mr Freeze that are Near Pure Evil.
