They said it all started with a flash in the sky and a ripple through the clouds. Nobody knows what caused this exactly, but some people think it might be a punch. Was he really that strong? Had the infection made him so determined to get here in search of a brand new food supply? At the time I said no... but having experienced this hunger firsthand I'm afraid that I now know better. The Avengers were the first on the scene. Can you picture them? Faces grave, concerned for all those human casualties. That idiot Colonel America reassuring everyone that everything would be fine now that the superheroes have arrived. What they didn't know is that the infection had targeted the superheroes of this dimension and a thousand realities before us. This was how it consumed, you see... by infecting superheroes just like him and sending them out to infect the others. Within twenty-four hours, we'd consumed the entire planet. One superhero from an infected universe... That was all it took to end an entire world.
~ Reed Richards explaining how the zombie plague started.

Reed Richards, better known as Mr. Fantastic, is a major villain in the Marvel Zombies comic series. Reed, along with almost every other hero and villain became a flesh-eating zombie after Sentry of Earth-91126 came on their dimension.

He is the main antagonist of Ultimate Fantastic Four issues #21-23 and 30-32, one of the main antagonists of Marvel Zombies: Dead Days, and a minor antagonist of Marvel Zombies Vs. Army of Darkness.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He studied the zombies and expressed fascination towards them, disregarding that they killed his children (although one may argue that Reed had already lost his mind by then and was starting to think about "evolving").
  • He intentionally infected the rest of the Fantastic Four without their consent, gleefully allowing himself to be infected in turn as his team became zombies, insisting that it was humanity's next step in evolution to achieve immortality.
  • He infected Iron Man to turn him into Iron Zombie, killed Nick Fury, and turned the rest of the heroes on the Helicarrier.
  • He attacked and contributed to the infection of Doctor Doom.
  • He repaired the destroyed dimensional transporter, tricking his Earth-1610 counterpart into bridging the Ultimate universe and the Zombie universe so he could find more food and infect other universes.
  • He refused to help his counterpart when an extradimensional parasite infested his Johnny Storm.
  • He escaped from his cell with the rest of the zombified Fantastic Four and slaughtered the guards, as well as the science teams sealed in with them.
  • He tried to bring the other zombies from his universe to Earth-1610 so they could infect the superheroes of that dimension.
  • He manages to meet the Heinousness Standard since although he lacked the cosmic powers and extradimensional technology Giant-Man stole from Galactus and the Watcher, respectively, his actions are still among the vilest of any of the zombies even with his limited resources.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He suffers from minor moral agency issues not from his hunger, but from having gone insane as a result of everything he experienced.
  • Despite his sadism and desire to infect and consume humanity, he still loved and mourned his children, believing that their deaths spared them such a horrific experience. However, this tragedy, while genuine, is only a minor prevention.

Trivia[]

  • He is the only Near Pure Evil villain from the Marvel Zombies franchise.
  • He is also the only version of Reed Richards to be Near Pure Evil.
