"Mother" and "Father" are minor antagonists in Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, serving as the main antagonists of the episode "Freebird." They are a pair of enigmatic collectors who trick people into their enchanted tea, which transforms them into birds.
Mother was voiced by Kathy Najimy and Father was voiced by Christian Borle.
Their Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Them Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- They tricked numerous people who stumbled upon their cottage into drinking their enchanted tea, which transformed them into birds, which they would then tie to perches or lock in cages. Their victims also lost their sapience and personalities, meaning Mother and Father effectively killed their victims by erasing the people they once were. Over time, they've accumulated at least 12 victims, including a young child.
- The loss of sapience is gradual, as shown by what happened to Rapunzel and Cassandra. They retained their personalities at first, but then started occasionally making bird sounds against their will. Later, Rapunzel seemed to lose the ability to speak right before losing her sapience entirely.
- Although they offered to turn Rapunzel and Cassandra back into humans after tricking them into drinking the tea, this was only because they wanted to appear trustworthy. When the two of them asked to be turned back later, Mother and Father locked them in a cage while revealing that they never intended to turn them back.
- When Eugene, Lance, and Hook Foot encountered them, they turned them into birds and imprisoned them in a cage.
- When Cassandra distracted Mother, the latter pursued and eventually overpowered her, likely intending to injure or kill her.
- Their actions led to Rapunzel temporarily losing her sapience, which devastated Cassandra.
- Although the two of them get along well, nothing confirms that they genuinely care about each other.
What Prevents Them From Being Pure Evil?[]
- Although they are usually taken seriously, they have a couple of comedic moments that detract from their heinousness. For example, Father angrily insulted some of the characters, who had been transformed into small birds. They responded by flying at his face and pecking him, causing him to run away while screaming.
- They are insufficiently heinous, as their worst crime wasn't given enough weight, since their victims were all turned back; it's not clear how they were psychologically affected by having their sapience removed.
