Mokko is a minor antagonist in the Star Wars franchise, serving as the main antagonist of the Star Wars: The Bad Batch episode "Retrieval".
He is the owner of the ipsium mine on the desert planet of Ipsidon, where he manipulated a group of young miners to mine ipsium for him, in which he would reward the "top earner" with a minimal portion of food whilst keeping to rest all to himself, starving the rest of them.
He was voiced by Jonathan Lipow.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Ever since he took over the Ipsium mines, he consistently lied to the child miners at the mines about the Ipsium degrading, lowering the wages, and telling them to dig deeper in the mines just so that he can keep all of the profits for himself, so his kindness towards them is just a façade.
- He gives a minimal portion of food to the top earner (e.g. a bowl of soup for a miner named Drake) and sadistically makes the other miners have to take only the leftovers that the top earner leaves behind, all the while greedily keeping the rest for himself to devour for his gluttonous satisfaction.
- Due to all of this, he is neglecting the miners. While the horrible working conditions are off-screen, it clearly does have on-screen effects since Benni Baro, and to a lesser extent, the other miners are frequently shown to be ravenously hungry and desperate to earn his approval by being the top earner.
- He puts all of his minors into horrible working and living conditions.
- He gave Benni a bottle of water as a reward for stealing the Marauder, but not before drinking most of it, leaving the young boy with only a small amount to drink.
- He orders the miners to strip the ship into pieces, which would've succeeded if the Bad Batch hadn't found an outpost to track their ship.
- Although he gave Benni the Bad Batch's gonk droid, Gonky, he did it reluctantly as Benni was ungrateful over his horrible working conditions.
- He captures Omega when he finds out that she's with Benni and threatens to throw her in the molten chasm, despite her only being a child. He would've succeeded in killing her if Hunter hadn't come to her rescue.
- He captures Tech and Wrecker and intends on making them work in the mines for 10 years.
- When Benni exposes him and all of the other minors finally realize the truth, instead of apologizing for his poor treatment, he denies all responsibility by saying that he was just taking his share and that none of them would survive without him, showing that he's a massive hypocrite.
- After his cover is blown, he has his sentry droids take out their electrostaffs to kill all of the miners so that he can have all of the profits to himself, and they would've succeeded if Tech and Wrecker hadn't shot them down. He does not care about any of his own droids, despite them being the only ones loyal to him, since he doesn't mourn any of their deaths.
- After losing his balance, he tricks Benni into saving him so that he can take him down with him before the miners come to his rescue and save Benni.
- Although he accepted his horrible fate over falling into the molten chasm with no fear, it's not played for any sympathy, and he indeed deserved it for his horrible treatment over the minors. It's also irony and karma since he tried to throw a child into there, but he was the one that died in their place.
- Despite the high heinous standards in the Star Wars franchise and him only appearing in one episode before dying, he stands out for starving a group of minors and forcing them to work in the most awful conditions.
- Also, slavery is pretty rare, with Jabba the Hutt and the Zygerrians being some of the only notable slavers that face competition against him.
- He goes as far as trying to give another child a gruesome death, as well as passing the individual capability a little bit for not having any Force powers, but is able to be a cruel and greedy slaver with the very limited resources he has.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He fails the Heinous Standards to Keeper Agruss, who had a higher kill count and had oppressed his slaves even worse with similar resources. He is shown holding back his own resources by pragmatically giving his own slaves a little bit of food when he could’ve easily not given them anything. However, it's shown that he does make them work in horrible conditions before ultimately attempting to kill them, as well as attempting to commit child murder, so this is a minor prevention.
Trivia[]
- So far, he's the only villain from Star Wars: The Bad Batch to be Near Pure Evil. Although Dr. Royce Hemlock could also qualify.
