"I strangled him with a rope and my own two hands. Have mercy on me father, no matter how many times I'm damned to hell, God cannot punish me enough."
~ Michio contemplating his horrid sins.

Michio Yuki is the main villainous protagonist of the 1976 Osamu Tezuka manga MW.

Michio is a popular and attractive 23-year old investment banker who is in fact secretly a serial killer and rapist with broader plans of destroying the entire human race with the MW nerve gas he was exposed to as a child, which resulted in his mind being permanently damaged into the sociopath seen in the series. To assist in his plans, he uses his former kidnapper and rapist Father Garai, who has reformed into a priest, who he is engaged in an affair with.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He kidnaps a man's son and then kills him while pretending the son is still alive to extort money, and then runs the man over with a boat.
  • Sleeps with and poisons his bosses daughter and then pretends to be her kidnapper that will allow her to alive for a fee, going as far as imitating her voice. He later ambushes the man and gloats towards his murder before kicking him off a ledge.
  • Rapes a woman so hard he cripples her and emotionally manipulates her into falling in love with him so much that she tries to marry him, and tries to get another woman to marry him which he then kills.
  • Emotionally gaslights and abuses his boyfriend Garai.
  • He is strongly implied to commit bestiality with his guard dog.
  • Takes numerous children hostage and threatens to kill them.
  • Attempts to out several people as gay (This is more heinous than it may initially seem since it was the 1970's and such a thing could ruin a person's life).
  • Attempts to destroy the human race with the MW gas, which he nearly succeeds in.
  • Manipulates his brother to be mistaken for him and killed.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Has agency issues as a result of becoming sociopathic due to brain damage from chemical exposure, though this is a minor mitigating trait because he shows clear sadism.
  • His backstory is very tragic. He was warped by the chemicals which are slowly killing him, was a victim of rape at Father Garai's hands, and had to witness several dead bodies, and it is demonstrated by the backstory as well his brother that he would have grown up to be an honorable, kind-hearted person if it hadn't happened to him.
  • He cries genuine tears when Garai sacrifices himself to save humanity and refuses to kill him, demonstrating he cares about him on some level despite continually abusing him.

Trivia[]

  • Michio was previously listed as Pure Evil by the Villains Wiki before his article was unceremoniously deleted and he was later determined to be Near Pure Evil instead due to his slim redeeming features.
  • He is one of two NPEs that are also protagonists written by Osamu Tezuka, the other being Adolf Kaufmann.
  • Some believe that Michio was the inspiration for fellow Near Pure Evil character Johan Liebert from Naoki Urasawa's Monster.
