“ | Everyone has something precious on their heart that they have faith in, and trust. For example, a god, or perhaps a lover. But Human hearts are weak. One trivial event can cause them to easily abandon that faith. And that's evil. Anyone who harbors faithlessness in my presence, no matter who they are, will have their eyes set ablaze. | „ |
~ Melascula |
Melascula is a major antagonist in the fantasy anime/manga series The Seven Deadly Sins and its sequel, Four Knights of the Apocalypse. She is an elite soldier of the Demon Clan who serves for the Ten Commandments directly under the Demon King, title Melascula the Faith. She was voiced by Mao Ichimichi/M.A.O. in Japanese and Mela Lee in English.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Her most notable magic power is reviving dead people into zombie-like creatures and amplifying their most negative traits, turning them into vengeful stalkers, mutilators and/or murderers who kill their love ones. She uses them for her dirty work and clearly enjoys it.
- One of these included Elaine, Ban's dead girlfriend. She turns her love for Ban into a stalkerish obsession, making her try to kill Jericho out of jealousy for just being with Ban.
- As a member of the Ten Commandments, she has devoured numerous souls and attempted genocide on the other races.
- Her Commandment of Faith makes anybody who has doubt have their eyes explode. While she has no control over this, it's not like she's apologetic to any of her victims and using her necromancy powers, she causes anybody who doesn't believe their loved ones can be alive to be affected by this.
- During the Holy War 3000 years ago, she tried to sabotage the portal to the Celestial Realm to make it lead to the Demon Realm instead.
- She summoned lesser demons and sent them to attack Brittania, resulting in numerous deaths.
- She and Galand try to kill Ban, Jericho and Elaine (after she breaks out of her spell.) They clearly enjoy this as Galand starts playing golf with giant boulders in hopes to kill them.
- She and Galand joyously toy with the life of Escanor, who they think is a harmless bartender, intending to play a unfair game with him where they will kill him and his refugees if he loses.
- She attempts to eat Escanor's soul (even after he offered to let her go.)
- She wanted to torture Meliodas to death by painfully and slowly destroying his hearts one by one, claiming it was out of spite for his friends' actions. This was without the approval of Meliodas's "brother", Estarossa, another Commandment. Estarossa even went as far as to say she deserved getting her neck snapped by Ban.
- For over a month, she regains her power by creating a dimensional distortion in the destroyed town of Corand and reviving all of its dead residents to create her own army. This was also partially done to prevent anybody from reaching Camelot to rescue the town from Zeldris and his demons.
- She tricked Meliodas with an illusion of his brother to anger and trick him, then kidnapped him with her Shadow to use his dark energy to amplify her army's power to attempt to kill the rest of the Seven Deadly Sins and their allies. She also takes joy in playing games like letting him go if he answers questions.
- Due to forcibly amplifying his dark energy and anger, she is responsible for killing Meliodas's emotions and turning him into his evil self and attacking Escanor, which she takes joy in watching and brags that Meliodas will kill everybody. She is also indirectly responsible for Meliodas later becoming the Demon King's vessel against his will later on due to his now lack of emotions.
- When her army fails to kill the Sins, she has the vengeful souls possess Diane and sadistically watches her fight her comrades.
- She attempts to eat Ban by biting him, then attacks and nearly kills Elaine for trying to stop her.
- She tries to kill the Sins herself in her giant snake form.
- She wanted to use Ban's immortality against him by swallowing him and suffocating him in her toxic bile for eternity.
- After being revived with the power of Chaos, she tries to kill the Four Knights of the Apocalypse.
- Unlike most of the Ten Commandments, she doesn't have any sympathetic qualities.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- As the Faith of the Ten Commandments, she is genuinely loyal to both the Demon King and Demon Clan and it is stated she literally can't understand why anybody wouldn't be. This is evident by the fact that her Faith Commandment would cause her eyes to gouge out if she ever stopped believing in them. She felt very upset and angered when Meliodas left and betrayed them.
- She cares for Galand and considers him a friend who's company she enjoys, even saying she teamed up with him because she cares for him. She is also distraught when finding out Galand was petrified.
- She has a few comedic moments like getting drunk at Escanor's bar with Galand and whining that she doesn't like Gowther having her thoughts read. These are extremely minor, however, and she is mostly presented as a serious threat.
