His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He is a violent serial killer who has murdered countless people before the events of the film.
- He receives letters from Junior, believing that he is a criminal like him and plans to meet up with him outside of prison and do damage.
- He keeps full control over the other inmates, keeping them and the prison staff in fear of him and forcing the other inmates to give him whatever he wants.
- When he is taunted by the warden, he throws a weight at him, causing him to fall of the catwalk and be severely injured.
- He manipulates his prison psychologist by lying about what he sees on the Rorschach test, infuriating the warden and leading to the psychologist making him leave the room. Martin then takes advantage of his absence to attack his psychologist and strangle him to death. He then steals his clothes and escapes prison.
- He goes to Junior's house to meet him, he becomes enraged upon learning Junior is actually a seven year old and threatens to murder him.
- He pretends he is Junior's uncle and has sex with Flo out of lust due to not having been with a woman in years, not caring that she is married.
- He kidnaps Flo and Junior who he plans to murder, leaving Ben Healey a note on the wall telling him that he will murder them both unless he pays him a $100,000 ransom.
- He locks Flo in a suitcase for annoying him.
- He punches a clown unconscious for bothering him.
- When Ben Healey brings him the bag with the money, Martin refuses to let Junior go and tries to get him to join him in a life of crime, which very well could be a lie, due to Beck wanting to kill Junior.
- He knocks down Ben and chases after Junior when he runs away with his money, intending to kill him.
- While he is being arrested, he steal a cop's gun and attempts to murder Junior for betraying him, shooting Ben instead when he gets in the way and coming very close to killing him.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Evil?[]
- He has multiple comedic moments that detract from his seriousness, such as when he is tricked into believing Junior, a child, is an ex-con, when he punches out a clown after mocking him, and when Junior kicks him in the groin before escaping.
