Near Pure Evil Wiki

Do you know what happens when you die? Well, if you’ve lived a life like I did, you go to Hell. Oh, yeah. In my case, it was for a couple of seconds. Down there though, it was years and years. And there’s a door just for you, and inside, well, it uses your own love against you. For me, I love life. Everything about it, I got a hunger for it. So, they starved me. No food. No other people. No nothing. No TV.
~ Malcolm describing his time in Hell to Dan.

Malcolm Graham is a major antagonist in the TV series Lucifer. He served as the secondary antagonist of Season 1, the posthumous overarching antagonist of Season 2 and a minor posthumous antagonist in the following seasons.

He is a corrupt L.A.P.D. homicide detective who was shot and killed by Dan Espinoza before being revived from Hell by Amenadiel in exchange for helping him return Lucifer Morningstar there. However, since Malcolm had lost his sanity in the underworld, he became solely obsessed with not going back there and went on a killing spree in the process before being stopped and killed by Chloe Decker.

He was portrayed by Kevin Rankin, who also played Kenny in Breaking Bad.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

In General/Background[]

  • While one could argue his mental illness impairs his moral agency, Malcolm still understands the consequences of his actions and he knows right from wrong, especially considering he was a corrupt police detective who worked with criminals, even before spending time in Hell, which negates his tragedy and confirms he can have agency.
  • The fact that he's in Hell means he feels remorse for something, whatever it may be, as it was never said what it was he regretted, although it might've been his corruption and wasting his second chance at life by causing all the misery he did.

Season 1[]

  • He tried to shoot and kill Chloe Decker once he realised she's watching him take bribes from a criminal.
  • While it's unknown if he loved his family before being shot, he certainly stopped caring after his resurrection, becoming verbally abusive to his wife.
  • Killed his partner, Anthony Paolucci, and staged it to look like a suicide.
  • He blackmails Daniel Espinoza, the man who shot him, into working with him with the threat of revealing the truth.
  • He tried to kill Lucifer Morningstar on Amenadiel's orders so he could stay out of Hell, and then frame Dan for it.
  • He knocked Dan unconscious and kidnapped him.
  • He impersonated Dan and texted to his wife, Chloe Decker, that they're breaking up.
  • Going fully insane, he became a serial killer who killed "false" Satanists, while claiming himself to be the only real Lucifer fanatic, and brutally mutilating their bodies. He killed two people this style.
  • After Lucifer called him insane and started hating him for killing people in his name, he killed Jacob Williams and framed Lucifer for it.
  • He tried to escape from Los Angeles with a fake identity to evade Lucifer's wrath.
  • After losing his money to Chloe, he kidnapped her and Dan's eight-year-old daughter Trixie and threatened to kill her if he doesn't give her the money.
  • Even though Chloe gave him the money, he still tried to kill her and Trixie.
  • He fatally shot Lucifer in the stomach, although he was resurrected by God shortly afterwards.

Season 2[]

  • His actions resulted in Amenadiel neglecting taking care of Hell and letting Goddess escape, which caused the events of Season 2.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He slightly fails the Heinous Standard to villains like Dromos, Michael, and Julian who did worse with similar resources.

Trivia[]

  • Malcolm was originally considered Pure Evil before being cut for heinous standard issues.
