“ | Certainly, he had far too many weaknesses to use my power. A puppet that can no longer be used is mere garbage. This puppet's role has just ended... I... I shall consume. Consume... consume everything... | „ |
~ Majora abandoning Skull Kid before taking control of the Moon. |
Majora is the titular main antagonist of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
It is a demon that resides in magic within a sentient mask who possessed Skull Kid into causing havoc towards Termina and even use the moon to destroy the land of Termina after three days. It was once a mask protected by the Happy Mask Salesman but after it was killed off, its mask remains where held by the Happy Mask Salesman.
Its Evil Ranking[]
What Makes It Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Before the game's events, it was used for hexing rituals by an ancient tribe, in which it's evil powers overtook all who wore it and nearly caused cataclysmic damage, to which the tribe had the mask sealed away so it won't wreak havoc again.
- When the mischievous but still innocent Skull Kid took the mask from the Happy Mask Salesman, it slowly possesses him to turn him into a dangerous menace who wreaks havoc all across Termina and surrounding areas for his mere pranks, which all include:
- Killing the Deku Butler's son, who was just a young boy, and use his soul to transform Link, who it ambushed, into a Deku Scrub forever, causing clear emotional anguish to Link. While Link managed to heal himself upon getting the Ocarina of Time through the Happy Mask Salesman's help, the Deku Butler's son still remained dead by the end of the game.
- Around the time of Kafei's marriage, it transformed him into a child as just another one of his cruel pranks.
- Attacking all the five Great Fairies, which results on them being all split apart into various pieces.
- Attacks and nearly kills Koume in the Woodfall Swamp.
- It dispatches the Odalwa, Goht, Gyorg and the Twinmold to cause havoc all across Termina, which results in the various enviornmental calamities and imprison each of the Four Giants in the evil guardian masks:
- The poisoning of the Southern Swamp's waters which threatens the lives of all the Deku Scrubs and others living in the area, as well as the abduction of the Deku Princess.
- Freezing the Snowheed Mountain Region, while brainwashing Biggoron to cause a deadly blizzard that threatens the survival of the Gorons, to which the tribe's hero, Darunia, lost his life to when trying to invesitgate and put an end to the blizzard.
- Heating the waters of the Great Bay to very murky extents, which made it unsuitable for sustaining the lives of Zora hatchlings, and personally tricks and dispatches the Gerudo Pirates into stealing Lulu's egg, which not only results in her voice being robbed, but Mikau's death when he tried to get them back from the pirates and gets fatally injured.
- Cursing Ikana Canyon, turning it's previously deceased population into undead beings who were corrupted to evil and forced to roam the land against their wills as a result of the curse.
- As it's ultimate prank, Majora takes control over Termina's moon and tries to crash it onto the Clock Tower and annihilate the entire world. When the giants came in and held the moon back, Majora callously abandons the Skull Kid for no longer being of use to it, seeking to accelerate the moon further to consume everything.
What Prevents It from Being Pure Evil?[]
- Ultimately, Majora has the moral agency of an angry toddler than an intentionally malicious being, in which to horrifying ramification, it only sees everything, including his evil actions and trying to destroy the world, as just part of a fun game and doesn't really grasp how wrong it's actions are. This is best exemplified right before the boss fight, in which it was left out by the other children and is happy Link wants to play with it, giving him the Fierce Deity mask to play "Good guys vs bad guys", which is what the final battle becomes, showing how Majora is as dangerous as he is because he does not view the world on a rational human lens.
- When Link enters the moon, it can be seen left out by the other masked children and if Link gives all his masks up upon playing with them, Majora laments on all of them leaving and not playing with him and then asks Link if he wants to play, which is used so that the player can pity Majora to an extent for ultimately being a lonely alien child underneath all his vile, dangerous acts.
