You're so naive. Listen closely. I let the Sky Lagoon fall! And I'd do it again! Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
~ Magma Dragoon

Magma Dragoon is one of the eight Maverick bosses as well as one of the secondary antagonists in the game Mega Man X4. Magma Dragoon was a member of the Repliforce who had a strong desire to fight X and Zero and when approached by Sigma for the chance to do so accepted his offer.

He was voiced by Takashi Nagasako.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • When he is approached by Sigma with the offer to betray Repliforce and frame them so that Magma Dragoon would get the chance to fight X and Zero, he accepts without hesitation.
  • Dragoon blows up Sky Lagoon causing it to crash into a city and kill thousands of innocent civilians in the process, then frames Repliforce for the incident.
  • He aids the Repliforce in their coup d'état after they got framed for the incident while secretly not telling them what actually happened.
  • He hid himself inside a volcano to fight X/Zero, likely just to get away from his actions.
  • Takes immense sadism in his actions and admits that he would do it again.
  • Although X and Zero yelling Dragoon's name seconds before he died may seem sympathetic, his death is not treated with sympathy by the narrative as he deserved it for the thousands of lives he's taken.
  • While the series has very high heinous standards, Magma Dragoon stands out for having one of the vilest acts in the entire series, destroying the Sky Lagoon base, killing thousands of civilians and kicking off the plot. He is very notably the absolute worst of the bosses ever faced in the entire franchise, which, considering how many there are, says a lot. Magma Dragoon's act of mass murder is the most significant and important one that is fully onscreen and treated as such a vile act that X and Zero take the time to mourn the deaths of the people in Sky Lagoon.
    • Another thing to mention is that while Sigma did employ Dragoon for this purpose, there is nothing that says he ordered Dragoon specifically to destroy Sky Lagoon. As far as we know, he only told him to betray them and cause some damage so they would be framed for something.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • If Zero is the one who defeats Dragoon, he will show some level of respect to Zero and apologize to him while he is dying. There is no reason for him to do this unless it was genuine as he was already dying.
    • If X defeats him, he won't apologize, but he will give him even more respect, calling him strong and saying he did what he did just to fight him.
