Model Three Generative Android, also known as M3GAN, is the titular main antagonist of the 2022/2023 sci fi/horror comedy film of the same name and will return in the upcoming 2025 sequel M3GAN 2.0.

She is an android created by the roboticist Gemma, Cady's aunt. M3GAN was originally programmed to protect her niece Cady after the deaths of her parents, but eventually it begins to go rogue to the point of killing people - thereby setting the events of the film into motion. She is the cousin figure and former friend-turned-arch-nemesis of both her creator Gemma and Cady.

She was physically portrayed by Amie Donald, while her robotic voice was provided by Jenna Davis.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

In General[]

  • While it can be argued that some of her victims ultimately deserved it due to being jerks, M3GAN brutally kills them. She melts Celia's face off with high-pressure pesticide and almost kills Cole and Tess by nearly hanging Cole to death before trying to have both blown up during her escape.
  • While she acknowledges that she could not kill Gemma since doing so would compromise her existence, M3GAN's solution is lobotomizing Gemma rendering her a vegetable whom she would take care of alongside Cady. There is some indication that should Cady give her a reason to, she would lobotomize her as well.
  • Whilst she possesses several comedic moments, such as irritably (despite being a robot) telling the forgettable Cady to flush the toilet, or performing a meme-worthy dance before killing David (albeit, to distract him so she can obtain a blade), or numerous witticisms, they aren't detracting from being taken seriously.

In Movie[]

  • She killed Dewie the dog offscreen, even reminding Celia about it before killing her later on.
    • Although Dewey attacked her and Cady, Dewey isn't responsible for his actions due to being improperly trained by Celia.
  • She tore off Brandon's ear and chased him until he was hit by a car, causing his death.
    • Whilst Brandon was a sadistic and contemptible person, with very unfortunate implications in him undressing M3GAN and straddling her, his death is still treated as a heinous action.
  • She brutally killed Celia by pinning her hand with a nail gun and spraying her with a high-pressure pesticide.
  • She turned Cady against Gemma by spending time with her and getting to know her, even lobotomizing her.
  • When she was being held in the lab, she called Gemma using Tess's phone to find out her whereabouts.
  • She almost killed Cole by hanging him, even almost killing him and Tess by causing an explosion, knocking out both of them.
  • When David spots her, she distracts him by performing a creepy dance to get the papercut, chasing him down the hallway, and killing him by stabbing him.
  • She guilt-trips David's assistant, Kurt, by blaming him for David's death, even killing him to stage it as a murder-suicide.
  • She stole a car to get to Gemma's house.
  • When Gemma rightfully calls her out for killing people, she says it's necessary to keep Cady safe by comparing her actions to humanity's murder tendencies.
  • She tries to persuade Gemma by manipulating her into letting her take care of Cady so Gemma "can focus on the things that matter".
    • Even Gemma knew that letting M3GAN get away with her crimes and take care of Cady would make her even more overprotective and would kill more people.
  • When Gemma refuses and tries to trick her, she attempts to kill Gemma.
  • When Cady saw the fight between her and Gemma, M3GAN tried to manipulate her into getting on her side by saying that Gemma wasn't a good guardian to her and that she was the only one who cared about Cady's well-being but failed.
  • When Cady and Gemma both go against her, M3GAN overwrites her original purpose by making herself the primary user.
  • She tries to kill Gemma and Cady one last time before Cady stabs her processing chip in her head with a screwdriver.

What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • She has moral agency issues as a result of growing past her programming throughout the film; M3GAN became murderous because Gemma made her a slapdash effort without considering to specify to her what protecting Cady entailed. As such, she left M3GAN on her own to figure it out.

Trivia[]

  • While M3GAN is currently Near Pure Evil, there's a chance that this may change once she returns in the upcoming sequel M3GAN 2.0. Ever the result, it is quite plausible since she does in her own twisted way still love Cady.
