“ | The time has come to finish what we started one thousand years ago. Now, go forth, and destroy every plant, every animal, everything that lives and breathes. Then, together, we will build a glorious world of metal. Rise, my warriors! | „ |
~ Lyric addressing his troops. |
“ | The snake's name was Lyric, and he was locked away to prevent him from destroying all life in the world. He's the last surviving member of a long-lost civilization called the Ancients. They harvested all the energy they needed from powerful Crystals. Despite their advanced technology, the Ancients lived in perfect harmony with nature. Except for Lyric, who schemed to steal the Crystals and use them to power an army of machines. When the Ancients found out, they imprisoned him. He's an evil, ruthless, dangerous, pitiless, remorseless monster. Thank goodness he's locked up for all eternity. | „ |
~ Archaeologist Cliff describing Lyric. |
Lyric the Last Ancient is the titular main antagonist of Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and the main antagonist of Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. He is a power-hungry snake who seeks to wipe out all organic life and replace it with technology.
He was voiced by Patrick Seitz.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- After making the robot armor he needed to keep himself alive, he tried to use the energy the Ancients harvested from the powerful Chaos Crystals to power an army of machines in order to activate his plans to destroy all life only to be stopped and imprisoned by the Ancients once they found out about this.
- Upon being accidentally released from his prison by Sonic, Lyric captured him and his friends in an energy string, intending to leave him there for a thousand years to get back at him for assisting in his imprisonment (which was done in one of his time travels) before raising his robot army to continue where he left off with his plans.
- In the past, he attempted to annihilate the Ancients and everything they held dear out of spite for hiding the crystals from him and refusing to let them off with a warning when his current robot assistant at the time suggested it.
- He intended to wipe out all life and replace it with robots in order to seize power.
- He forced Eggman to work for him by threatening his life if he fails to get the map to the crystals from Sonic and his friends.
- Right after taking control over Metal Sonic, he made the robot go on a rampage through the Slowpoke Isle, which likely led to many casualties.
- Once Sonic's friends collected the last crystal, Lyric held Sonic hostage in order to coerce them into handing all Chaos Crystals to him, before having his robots try to kill Sonic anyway even after his friends gave them to him.
- Upon reactivating his robot army with the crystals, Lyric ordered them to go and destroy every living thing, intending to remake the world with metal.
- When Sonic and his friends tried to stop him, Lyric captured them with the energy string again and tried to shred them with his metallic propellers.
- In Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, he brainwashed Shadow by putting a mind control device on him, intending to use him for his plans.
- He captured Amy by placing the same mind control device on her with his intentions being to use her archaeological knowledge to help him locate the crystal fragments.
- He sadistically taunted Amy while she was imprisoned, telling her that she can have the pleasure of watching as he squeezes the life out of Sonic.
- He captured Sonic's friends, stating that he will kill them by beating them to paste, which he also intended to do to Sonic's world.
- After Sonic defeated him and saved his friends, Lyric made one last attempt to kill them by revealing his robotic trump card only to be thwarted by Shadow, who had been released from his mind control thanks to Sonic and his friends.
- Unlike the other Sonic Boom villains (including Shadow himself), he has no redeeming qualities and is taken completely seriously.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He has a genuine tragedy of getting sick due to working to unlock the power of the Crystals, which caused him to feel betrayed since the Ancients didn't warn him of this and were unable to heal him using their medicine, leading him to develop hatred for organic life and seeking to wipe it out to replace it with metal since it is what kept him alive.
