She was portrayed by Laura Fraser.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
In General[]
- Although she is shocked by the sight of blood and the sounds of guns, she has no problem at all with murders, which makes her extremely hypocritical.
- She is an extremely cowardly individual, as she mostly only cares about herself and if she is in a situation she could die or get arrested, she will either sell out anyone to save herself, beg for her life, or betray the person she thinks is a threat to her when she is at a disadvantage.
- While Breaking Bad has a high heinous standard, her crime of getting many men killed to save her own skin is unique enough for her to stand out.
In the Past[]
- For years, Lydia has been helping Gustavo and Peter’s meth business, helping them expand and make Gus’ Super lab.
Better Call Saul[]
Season 3[]
- She helped Mike Ehrmantraut launder money from the local bank.
- She helps Gus buy the laundry which Gus later uses as his future Super lab as seen in Breaking Bad.
Season 5[]
- She told Gus to kill Lalo Salamanca. However, since Gus doesn't do it and especially with how much Lalo would deserve it for the clear threat she knows he poses, it's a fairly minor crime.
Breaking Bad[]
Season 5[]
- She attempted to have Mike kill all ten of Gus’ people who were sent to prison in order to tie up loose ends. When Mike refused, she payed to have Chris Mara kill them all and Mike, which leads to Chow and his own deaths.
- She ruins a deal that Mike tried to force on her and deflects the blame to the DEA agents for planting cameras outside the methylamine barrel.
- She helped Mike, Jesse Pinkman, and Walter White build their own empire and rob a train in exchange for her life.
- She got the security consultant, Ron Forenall, arrested to save her own skin.
- She unintentionally insulted Mike’s honor by first insisting he not hurt her daughter, showing she hypocritically assumes the worst in people she sees as a threat.
- She gives Walt the names of the ten people in prison plus Ron so he can call Jack Welker who would send out his prison gang to kill them all.
- She encourages Walt to expand his empire into the Czech Republic.
- She ordered the deaths of Declan’s group to Jack’s Neo-Nazi Group.
- She tried at least once to bring Walt back to a life of crime when he stopped it, though Skyler thwarted her attempt.
- She makes sure that Walt's people stay in the field of meth production and take care of the production of a relatively pure brand, indirectly dragging the gang to tie up Jesse, who was imprisoned for six months for the production.
- She is not at all concerned about the conditions of captivity in which Jesse is being held when Todd tells her.
- While it's been made clear Todd Alquist has feelings for her, she didn't feel the same way and could barely recognize his voice from Walt's. To be fair though, she’s well aware that Todd is an extremely dangerous person.
- She sent Todd and his men to threaten Skyler and her daughter so she wouldn't think of tipping her off, which made no sense since Skyler was unaware of the full extent of her actions.
- She told Todd to kill Walt upon his return to Albuquerque, even telling him that they would be doing Walt a favor by doing so.
- Although her death via ricin poisoning was slow and painful, she completely deserved it.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- She genuinely loves and is protective of her daughter. Going as far to beg Mike not to hurt her and that if he did kill her, he would let her daughter find her body so she wouldn't think she was abandoned by her mother.
- She seemed to have a genuine friendship with Peter Schuler, as she was glad when he was comforted by Gus after having a panic attack, and offered to take him to the rodeo.
Trivia[]
- In an interview with The Times, Laura Fraser revealed that she was originally set to reprise her role as Lydia Rodarte-Quayle in the sixth and final season of Better Call Saul, but was unable to appear due to the COVID-19 pandemic's restrictions preventing her from leaving Scotland for the United States of America, where the show was shot. Had she been able to appear, it's possible that her appearance could have made Lydia even worse.
