~ Lucifer denouncing God and declaring war on creation. |
Lucifer, also known as Satan and The Devil, is the main antagonist of the Supernatural franchise.
He was a prideful archangel created by God who started a civil war in Heaven over God's love for humans and was imprisoned in Hell for his many crimes against creation and God Himself. He would return from his imprisonment on more than one occasion to wreak havoc and death on Earth and would develop ambitions to remake the whole universe in his own image.
He was portrayed mostly by Mark Pellegrino.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
In General[]
- From the start of his creation, though Lucifer loved his brothers and father, he thought very highly of himself above every one of them and had envious tendencies after God created humanity. When he took on the Mark of Cain, due to its corrupting influence, these simple personality flaws were amplified and became his defining traits in the worst way.
- While the Mark of Cain does corrupt its carrier, Lucifer stayed evil even after it was destroyed, whereas Dean became good again after being freed from its influence, proving Lucifer still had full moral agency after losing the Mark.
- When God created mankind and ordered the angels to bow to them all and love them more than him, Lucifer refused, citing how "flawed" they are, but in truth, he was infuriated that humans had usurped God's favor from him, unable to bear that God would love anything more than him.
- Rebelled against Heaven, attempting to sway his older brother, Michael, to his side, who rejected him.
- After being cast out from Heaven, in order to "prove" mankind's fallibility, he "tempt[ed] and twist[ed]" one of the early humans, Lilith, into the first demon, having corrupted her soul and transformed her into a more malevolent being. She was presumably followed by Alastair and then the Princes of Hell. For this egregious crime, God ordered Michael to condemn Lucifer to a cage in Hell that could only be unlocked by breaking the "66 seals".
- Lucifer would go on to continually falsify this story and make himself out to be a tragic figure, victim of a loveless father who condemned him for refusing to bow to a lesser and destructive species. Lucifer is, of course, an extreme hypocrite in this regard, being responsible for their corruption in the first place and attempting numerous times to cause death and ruin greater than humanity ever had. He succeeded in this goal in an alternate future where he wins the Apocalypse and destroys mankind, showing him to be just as much, if not more of, a destructive force as humanity.
- At another point, likely before Lilith's demonization, Lucifer tricks Gadreel—an angel delegated the task of guarding the Garden of Eden by God—into letting him into the Garden of Eden where he proceeds to tempt Adam and Eve into eating the Forbidden Fruit, thus beginning humans' corruption, ironically being the cause of the problems that he said were inherent in them.
- Despite the common belief that Cain’s brother Abel was talking to God, resulting in Cain killing him out of jealousy, Abel was actually talking to Lucifer who was planning to "make [Abel] into his pet", and when Cain made a deal with Lucifer to ascend Abel’s soul to Heaven and descend his own to Hell, he only agreed if Cain were to kill Abel himself.
- After the fact, Lucifer transfers the Mark to Cain (giving it its name, "the Mark of Cain"), which corrupts him as well. He is resurrected as a Knight of Hell (a demon) by the Mark and goes on to train the other Knights of Hell, also created by Lucifer.
- After Asmodeus, the weakest of the Princes of Hell, releases savage creatures of Hell, known as the shedim, from their prison in Hell, believing they could be tamed and used, Lucifer locked them back up and scarred Asmodeus' face in a rage, "forging a bond" between the two from the pain and humiliation Asmodeus suffered at Lucifer's hand.
- Despite creating the Demons by twisting humans' souls and them worshipping him as their father, Lucifer never truly cares about demons and hates them. He merely uses them as servants and would destroy them when he's done destroying humanity.
- As revealed in a flashback, Lucifer is the puppet master behind Azazel's plan for imbuing infants with his powers in order to free Lilith who would then have to be killed by one such child to break the final seal.
- Since Sam was one of them this would make responsible for the Death of Mary Winchester which would affect John Winchester thus kickstarting the Series and its plot.
- While there is thousands of Lucifer’s in the supernatural multiverse, this version is the most heinous in actions and has bigger influence over the plot.
- While he has many comedic moments, they don't detract from how vile he is, and oftentimes are used to show how callous and spiteful he is.
Season 5[]
- To gain a vessel, Lucifer orders Abraxas, one of his demons, to choose someone's family to kill so he could manipulate whoever was chosen into being a temporary vessel in Sam Winchester’s stead (Sam Winchester is Lucifer's true vessel). A man named Nick is chosen and after the fact, Lucifer causes Nick to see visions of the murder of his wife Sarah and infant son Teddy, with blood leaking from Teddy's crib while an infant wailing broadcasts to Nick through a baby monitor. Lucifer appears to Nick in a dream in the form of Sarah and convinces him to be possessed by the archangel, saying he can't bring Nick's family back but can help him achieve vengeance on the God that allowed for such a tragedy to happen and didn't care.
- This once again highlights Lucifer's hypocrisy since he was the one who caused Nick's family's murder in the first place.
- He manifests in Sam's dreams as his deceased girlfriend, Jessica Moore, and attempts to cast doubt and despair in him, telling him the people he gets close to always die and this fact won't change. When Sam rejects "Jess'" words and tells her there's hope, Lucifer reveals himself and tells him he's his true vessel and that sooner or later, Sam will inevitably say "Yes" to his possession.
- To perform a ritual to summon and enslave Death, one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse and a primordial cosmic being, Lucifer has killed the residents of Carthage, digging mass graves for the women and children and having the men of the town possessed by demons which he then ordered to commit suicide en masse.
- The Winchesters attempted in vain to stop him and Dean attempts to kill him with the Colt, only succeeding in very briefly, albeit painfully, stunning him before he punches Dean and finishes the ritual with the mass suicide and thereafter enslaves Death.
- Causing the rise of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and having at least loose command over all of them, Lucifer ensures they fulfill their roles in the Apocalypse:
- War begins causing conflict, turning humans against each other in a small town by causing hallucinations, only a fraction of what he can do, having been the influence behind both World Wars.
- Famine is tended to by demons and fed him human souls to bring him back to full power to spread rabid hunger across the land.
- Pestilence causes several outbreaks of swine flu which are making way for Croatoan virus, which will turn humans into violent zombies.
- Death is made to raise the dead in Sioux Falls which are eventually set to attack Bobby Singer, one of the last reasons keeping Sam from saying "Yes" to Lucifer. Death later arrives in Chicago to cause a storm that will destroy the city, a small portion of the death and destruction Lucifer will have the Horseman cause all around the world.
- When tipped off to a meeting of Pagan deities by one of said deities, Lucifer proceeds to slaughter eight of them out of disgust for their kind.
- One of these deities is Odin, what makes him responsible for Loki's crimes.
- Lucifer's younger brother Gabriel intervenes after all but one of the Pagans are dead and the Winchesters escape. Gabriel, creating an illusion of himself and sneaking up on Lucifer, is stabbed with his own blade by Lucifer.
- Although Gabriel faked his death, Lucifer really believed he had killed his brother and was initially remorseful but by the time Gabriel is revealed to have been alive, Lucifer has lost any care for him and the rest of his brothers, only being surprised by Gabriel's manifestation.
- Sam finally says "Yes" to Lucifer in order to trap him back in the Cage. Lucifer unfortunately wins the battle over control of Sam's body, telling Dean that "Sammy's long gone" and gloating over being right about Sam agreeing.
- He reveals to Sam that all of his former friends were demons spying on him, pushing him towards Lucifer who also tells Sam that he's his real family, rather than Dean, all while keeping Sam suppressed inside his head.
- During his conversation with Sam, he says he wants Sam to be contented and offers him the chance for vengeance on the demons and also to spare Dean's life. However, this is only to placate a still-resistant Sam during his possession of him rather than a genuine show of affection or care for Sam.
- He encourages Sam to enact revenge on the demons for manipulating him throughout his life, letting Sam loosely partake as he slaughters them all by hand, grotesquely mutilating them all.
- He causes several disasters around the globe as the Apocalypse lies heavy, including several earthquakes, creating a death toll at least in the hundred-thousands.
- When the time for the battle between Michael and Lucifer comes, the two brothers are interrupted by Dean, Bobby, and Castiel, the last of which is throws a holy Molotov cocktail at Michael and banishes him, inciting Lucifer to completely obliterate Cass in a most-visceral fashion.
- After Bobby shoots Lucifer in a weak attempt to distract him from Dean, Lucifer snaps Bobby's neck.
- Lucifer, having had enough of Dean, violently assaults him and assures that Sam would feel it as his hands broke Dean's body. Lucifer continues his relentless attack until he's suppressed by Sam and sent back to the Cage alongside Michael.
Season 6-7[]
- In the Cage, without any cause and enraged with the Winchesters, Lucifer levies horrific tortures on Sam for over 120 years in Hell's warped time.
- Sam's soul was left behind in a botched rescue by Castiel, thus giving Lucifer even greater opportunity to inflict "delicious, perfect pain" on Sam's defenseless soul, no longer being limited in options by Sam's mortality. Sam's soul was irreparably damaged by his time with Lucifer, so much so that Death himself had to put up a "wall" in Sam's mind to prevent his psyche from breaking.
- It gradually and unfortunately crumbles, and Lucifer returns to Sam in the form of a persisting hallucination that torments him until his mind is also irreparably damaged, with Sam developing severe PTSD-induced psychosis and insomnia which nearly causes him to die. Though Castiel absorbs Sam's trauma to save his life, the psychological scars Lucifer left on Sam remain for years, still being kept up at night by the image of Lucifer's true face burned into his mind, likely forever.
- It's eventually revealed during the hallucinations that Lucifer raped Sam in the cage, as evidenced by his line "That's what I'm talking about, Sam. Real interactions again. I miss that—the rapier wit, the wittier rape.”
- Lucifer became more comedic in this season, but his comedic moments still don't detract from his villainy and only shows how sadistic he is.
Season 11[]
- After the Darkness (a.k.a Amara) breaks free, Lucifer's Cage is cracked enough for him to telepathically send Sam visions; he sends them out in an attempt to coax Sam to the Cage. Examples of such include:
- Sam's memories of being tortured in the Cage.
- Appearing in Sam's dream as John, convincing Sam that his visions are from God.
- Reinforcing Sam's belief that God is reaching out by manifesting a burning bush after another of his visions.
- When Sam is convinced, God wants him to go to Lucifer and does so, Lucifer tries to convince him to be possessed by him, manipulating him by reminding him his visions were from God. Sam ultimately says no but the warding around the small cage fails and Lucifer teleports Sam inside with him and reveals he was the one behind the visions, telling him that God was never with him.
- The warding failed thanks to Rowena MacLeod, who Lucifer promised would be standing by his side after he takes over Heaven.
- Despite significant prodding and attempts to convince Sam, he still says "No" to Lucifer's possession, enraging the archangel as he proceeds to beat Sam up until Dean and Castiel show up, at which point he brings them into the cage too and fights all three.
- He threatens to kill Dean unless Sam says "Yes", knowing Sam won't let Dean die.
- After Lucifer gains Castiel's permission to possess him and makes sure that Rowena is the only one who can put him back in the Cage, he breaks her neck to ensure she won't.
- He imprisons Crowley and makes him his "dog", enslaving, torturing him, and forcing him to perform demeaning tasks, such as cleaning the floor with his tongue.
- Another angel, Nithael, recognizes Lucifer in Castiel's vessel and promptly attacks the archangel before the latter molecularly combusts him and enjoys the taste of his blood.
- He impersonates Castiel and assists the Winchesters in retrieving a Hand of God (an object imbued with God's power and allegedly able to harm the Darkness) from a ship in the past, but soon drops the act after Sam offers "Cass" his soul energy so he can destroy the angel-proof warding on the ship, choosing to draw on Sam's soul power until Sam explodes and tell Dean that it was an accident.
- He attempts to kill both Sam and Dean after the latter returns with the now-defunct Hand of God.
- He delegates a demon, Simmons, to free Crowley and act as though she's betraying Lucifer so she can get him to lead him somewhere of interest, which happens to be to a Hand of God obtained by Crowley.
- Travelling to Heaven to take charge of it and the angels against Amara, Lucifer is encountered by Jofiel, who calls out to his brothers but is turned to dust by Lucifer.
- Crowley possesses Castiel's vessel to convince Castiel to expel Lucifer, who arrives in thought form and angrily beats up Crowley until the demon is exorcised back into his vessel.
- As the warding and fire trapping Lucifer fails, he takes the Horn of Joshua, another Hand of God, from the Winchesters, and once again tries to kill them before the Darkness arrives.
- Using the fraction of God's power imbued in the Horn of Joshua, Lucifer attempts to kill Amara, who is left unscratched, subsequently kidnapping and torturing Lucifer in an attempt to draw God to Her. Given that it's indicated later that Lucifer knows killing God or Amara would throw off the light-and-dark balance and end reality, this was one of Lucifer's most reckless actions in the series as he would've committed omnicide if the Darkness was killed.
- Lucifer refuses to call his father, thus Amara continues torturing him. Castiel is also being damaged by the torture and both are barely holding on, meaning Lucifer is not only refusing to call for help but forcing Castiel to slowly die with him.
Season 12[]
- When God and Amara leave Earth to reconcile, Lucifer feels abandoned by his father once more and chooses to wreak havoc on his creations to spite him, abandoning any greater plan for the sake of chaos.
- While he did side with Sam and Dean towards the end of the previous season, this action alone subverts that. Showing that deep down he's just an overgrown child who wants attention.
- Lucifer, in search of a vessel, tries possessing four members of a family but they are unable to contain him, resulting in all their deaths as they were burned away by his essence. He sends two demons to clean up the evidence.
- He successfully possesses rock star Vince Vincente, the lead singer of Ladyheart, whose girlfriend's death has sent Vince into a depression; Lucifer uses this fact to his advantage by impersonating Vince's late girlfriend, getting him to say "Yes" on the promise "she'll" heal his sister, Wendy, who suffers from paralysis.
- While he does follow through on this promise, as Wendy said herself, he treated it as more of an errand than a deed done out of the goodness of his heart, likely doing it as a condition to be fulfilled so Vince won't eject him.
- Confronting Crowley, he is briefly paralyzed by Rowena's spell before breaking free and kidnapping her. He makes her perform a spell to strengthen Vince's ability to contain him, lest he snap her neck again and decapitate her.
- She tricks him, however, using a different spell to decay his vessel faster and send Lucifer to the bottom of the ocean after Lucifer decides decapitation is far too merciful for her and tries to kill her.
- Two Satanist teenagers attempt to summon Satan with a feather from his wings, drawing Lucifer to them who kills them both and repairs his vessel with it.
- Realizing that Vince Vincente has some level of fame, he jumps at the opportunity for worship from "his" fans, testing the devotion of one by having her carve Vince’s name into her chest.
- He arranges a Ladyheart concert and plans to kill the entire audience.
- When Ladyheart's producer threatens to destroy the band, Lucifer has him stab himself in the throat with his pen.
- Shortly before the concert begins, Lucifer kills two of the other bandmates, terrifying Tommy before he is confronted by Crowley and Castiel.
- He quickly overpowers the angel and the demon, tossing Castiel and savagely beating Crowley down with an electric guitar.
- As Lucifer is about to kill the entire audience, Sam and Dean scare everyone out of the building with gunfire. Lucifer fights them and Castiel off, also breaking down while denouncing God for abandoning him again, declaring creation meaningless, and vowing to keep "smashing Daddy's already-broken toys" before abandoning Vince's vessel, leaving him dead and grotesquely decayed while he leaves to find a vessel of higher status.
- He possesses CEO Wallace Parker, seeking out vessels with more influence and power, then moving onto Parker's friend, an archbishop.
- As the archbishop, he is discovered by the church staff who attempt an exorcism, annoying him enough to violently slaughter all the clergy before abandoning his vessel once more, leaving the archbishop dead.
- Now seeking a way higher position, Lucifer convinces President of the United States Jefferson Rooney to say "Yes" by claiming he'll help him bring spirituality to America.
- He kills a suspicious secret service agent who checks in on "Rooney".
- He proposes use Nuclear Weapons during business meeting (As Rooney). After that he's laughing, so, it unknown is he really just kidding or seriously wanted to use it, but then reduced this to a joke.
- As Rooney, he has sex with Rooney's secretary and paramour, Kelly Kline, thus raping her via deception.
- Anticipating an attack from the Winchesters, he delegates secret service agent Rick Sanchez the task of taking the Winchesters down while expressing contentedness with his current position, saying he might keep it for a while.
- After Kelly comments on how she thinks Jeff would be a great father, he conceives a Nephilim with her.
- The Nephilim are considered one of, if not the, most powerful and dangerous species to exist, being sired by an angel and a human, thus having a human soul mixed with angel grace. Being an archangel and one of the most powerful beings in existence himself, Lucifer's child would be even stronger than him, something he figures he can use to his advantage.
- Ponders the various, destructive ways he can play with his power, toying with the idea of pardoning Charles Manson.
- The Winchesters convince Kelly to help them in their plan to exorcise Lucifer with the hyperbolic pulse generator. When he arrives to her location, she tells him she can't have the baby, at which point he throttles her and tells her he's "gonna have to insist" until Sam exorcises him with the pulse generator and Rowena casts a spell to send him back to the Cage.
- When two demons free Lucifer, who was been bound in chains and forced to possess his old vessel, Nick, by Crowley, he kills them both, betraying the deal he just made with one of them.
- Despite being under Crowley's control and acting submissive, Lucifer still conspires with demonic loyalists to break free of the binds Crowley has him in, threatening any who are disloyal with "unendurable and everlasting" agony.
- When Dagon, a Prince of Hell who's become the guardian of Jack (Kelly's child) and communicating with Lucifer telepathically, loses Kelly to Castiel, Lucifer becomes furious, shrieking loudly and causing Dagon pain before threatening to bring her infinite torment unless she finds her.
- Lucifer becomes free from Crowley's control and can now control him, telekinetically throwing him around and cutting him with an angel blade before finally stabbing and supposedly killing him.
- Finding Rowena in her home, he terrifies her by showing her his true form before violently killing her, stomping on her face, crushing her skull, and setting her on fire in a vain attempt to ensure she doesn't return again. He taunts the Winchesters over having done this and that he can no longer be caged.
- When Rowena is later resurrected once more, she remains traumatized by her violent death and still picturing Lucifer's true face, apparently a horrific site to see, especially considering what Sam says about his experience when talking with Rowena about it. They both find common ground in being forever damaged by Lucifer.
- Lucifer arrives to the cabin where Kelly is in labor to collect his son, following the Winchesters through the rift created by Jack's coming birth to the Apocalypse World where they and Crowley plan to seal Lucifer with a spell to close the rift. After Dean shoots Lucifer with angel-killing bullets but runs out, Lucifer batters Dean bloody and attempting to kill Crowley before the latter completes the spell by committing suicide.
- Before the rift can close on Lucifer, he exits through the rift and stabs Castiel in the back, killing him again.
- As Mary pummels Lucifer towards the rift with Enochian brass knuckles, he pulls her through with him as he falls into it.
Season 13[]
- Lucifer chases Mary in the Apocalypse World and contemplates killing her, nearly impaling her on a spear but deciding he needs her alive to use her as a bargaining chip for Jack with Sam and Dean.
- Despite keeping Mary alive and even saving her from a hunter trying to kill her, he has no problem with torturing her into submission, also not letting her rest, blaming her for being a "wimpy little human" like a child.
- He smites a group of angels that attempt to smite him before being confronted and kidnapped by the Apocalypse World version of his brother, Michael, but later escaping back to the Main World without Mary, surmising she's being tortured by Michael.
- After being captured by Prince of Hell, Asmodeus, in his weakened state alongside Castiel, they both escape but Lucifer is still weak from Michael draining his grace. He tries to convince Castiel to give him some of his but Castiel refuses, so Lucifer attacks him and tries to take it.
- In search of more grace, Lucifer finds a cherub and steals his before killing him with a punch through the chest.
- Finding the angel Anael, known as Sister Jo, he attempts to steal her grace and kill her before she convinces him to instead take some of her grace, let her recharge, and repeat.
- The Winchesters and Castiel confront Lucifer but are overpowered by him and Jo. Lucifer torturously attempts to kill all three before Arthur Ketch sends them on the run.
- He meets with Duma and two other angels and convinces them to make him the ruler of Heaven, on the false promise that he'll make more angels and get the others their wings back.
- He wastes most of his time as king of Heaven demanding subordination, not fulfilling any of his promises but sees his rule as an opportunity to be worshipped and to find his son, the latter of which he intimidates Duma into doing.
- Listening in on the prayers of mankind, he hears two priests attempting to exorcise a demon which Lucifer exorcises before revealing to the priests that he's Lucifer. They irritate him with their cries of "Blasphemy" and he kills them both.
- He complains about how God made him out to be the villain to all humans and angels, deciding then to devote himself to finding Jack so he can remake the world in his own image with Jack's power combined with his own.
- He admits to Jo that his promises to the angels were a lie and she chastises him for his weakness, telling him he should go back to the Cage, at which point he strangles her but lets her go.
- This merciful act may have been legitimate, but he also only lets her go because he's still depowered, thus he was less himself and almost human.
- Kidnapped by Gabriel and Rowena so his grace can be used to open a rift to Apocalypse World, he eventually escapes and pins Rowena to a wall, choking her nearly to death until she throws him into the rift.
- In the Apocalypse World, offscreen, he absorbs the grace of several angels and kills them.
- He resurrects Sam, who has been killed by ravenous vampires, so he can bring him to Jack, holding the vampires off but threatening to let them loose on Sam unless he takes him to Jack.
- After the Winchesters, Castiel, and Jack take the surviving hunters from Apocalypse World through the rift to the main universe but leave Lucifer behind, Lucifer brokers a deal with Michael to make another rift which they can both travel through, with Michael getting to take over the world and Lucifer getting his son. Like how he did during his attempt on the Darkness' life, Lucifer shows he's willing to leave the entire world destroyed if it means he gets what he wants.
- After getting Jack, Lucifer let him kill Michael, because Lucifer wanted to rule World by himself, thereby betraying deal.
- While scouting the Winchesters' bunker, Lucifer is seen by Maggie, a hunter from the Apocalypse World, who screams, and in response, Lucifer crushes her skull with his hands, enjoying the warmth and wetness as he did.
- When Jack denounces his father and calls him a monster for this, Lucifer becomes enraged and steals Jack's power, leaving him powerless but becoming the more powerful than he ever has been.
- He teleports away with Jack and Sam to an abandoned church and tries to kill Sam and Jack, showing no mercy for his son as he beats him. He then attempts to make them fight to death with his blade, watching with a sadistic smirk as Jack begins to impale himself to give Sam a chance to stop Lucifer.
- When Dean shows up empowered by Michael, he and Lucifer battle until Lucifer gains the upper hand and tries to smite Dean and Michael but is suddenly stabbed by Dean, finally killing the Prince of Darkness after all the trouble he's caused and misery he's sown.
Season 14[]
- His vessel, Nick, is left alive after Lucifer's death. Nick suffers nightmares and night terrors almost constantly, being deeply psychologically scarred by Lucifer's possession. Despite being dead, Lucifer, in a way, lives through Nick. He is awakened in the Empty (where the essence of all angels and demons go when they die) by Nick, who is lost without Lucifer's possession and works tirelessly to resurrect him as Lucifer actively encourages him to do so, telling him the details of how to, which involves stealing Jack's blood.
- While according to Nick, Lucifer did genuinely love Jack, this just as easily could've been a lie to get to Jack. Even if it was true, whatever love Lucifer might've had for Jack was long gone.
Season 15[]
- He is resurrected by God, who wants to end the Winchesters' story and get the book detailing his death from them. Lucifer impersonates Castiel over the phone to get in the bunker, lying that the Shadow, the being who rules over the Empty, resurrected him.
- He kidnaps and kills a reaper to turn her into the new Death, who is the only one who can open and read all death books. After she opens it, he kills her and steals the book, revealing that God resurrected him and proclaiming himself "the new favorite", taunting Michael.
- He flings the Winchesters and Michael aside and tries to recruit his son to his and God's side, threatening to kill him otherwise, until he is killed for the second and last time by Michael.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He genuinely loves his brother Gabriel. Despite his claims that he hates his family and saying he wishes he could torture Gabriel for "betraying" him, when he is confronted by Gabriel in Season 5 he attempts to talk him down from fighting, and even though he does "kill" Gabriel he is shown to be on the verge of tears afterwards. When Gabriel and him interact again in Season 13, and Gabriel calls him an unfixable cancer, Lucifer sheds a single tear, showing his brother's hatred of him does genuinely hurt him.
- He is shown to have loved God and is portrayed sympathetically for wanting his father's love despite never being able to receive it. In season eleven, when God gives a fake apology to Lucifer for casting him into Hell, Lucifer is greatly emotionally moved by this and agrees to help God save the universe from Amara. In season twelve, after God and Amara have abandoned Earth to travel existence, Lucifer has an emotional breakdown over God leaving him and says that God never really cared about him, something that is proven correct when God turns out to care for no one but himself in Season 15, and even when God used him to get the Death book in season 15, Lucifer happily obeyed him and rubbed it in Michael's face that he was God's favorite again.
- Lucifer's intent to remake the universe at the end of Season 13 doesn't subvert either of these as Gabriel was already dead that point and God wasn't present in the main universe, meaning if Lucifer had succeeded in his plan neither of them would have been affected, therefore his relationship with Gabriel and desire for God's love hold up.
