The unnamed Lin Kuei Grandmaster is a major antagonist in the 2021 animated film Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms.

He was voiced by Paul Nakauchi who also voices Lei Shen in World of Warcraft.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?

• At one point the Grandmaster is hired by Shinnok (though he doesn’t know it’s him) to steal the final Kamidogu from a temple.
• To accomplish this mission, he brings in Kuai Liang and Smoke for this mission but reveals that he had transformed the entire rest of the Lin Kuei into cyborgs. The two try to escape, but Smoke is captured and painfully transformed into a cyborg.
• While he doesn't do any of his deeds maliciously, he still remained apathetic to the Lin Kuei's suffering regarding their transformations and was fully aware of its effects.
• While the heinous standards are quite high, his crimes are pretty unique for the movies' standards.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?

• He is genuinely horrified to find out what Shinnok is planning and tries to stop him with very little luck. However, this is minor since it's not shown to be an act of redemption, but rather an Even Evil Has Standards moment.

Trivia

• He so far is the only Near Pure Evil from Mortal Kombat outside of the video games.
