~ Lasombra revealing his true identity |
Lasombra is the overarching antagonist of the 1996-2004 TV series Hey Arnold! and the main antagonist of his 2017 TV Movie Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie.
He is a ruthless and greedy river pirate who sought to steal the Corazon (a highly valuable ancient artifact) from the Green-Eyed People tribe and was successful until Miles and Stella Shortman stole it away from him.
His ongoing quest to retrieve the stone came to fruition as he lures Miles and Stella's son Arnold there while posing as their friend Eduardo under the pretense of helping Arnold find Miles and Stella, only to take him and his class hostage and threaten them all. He is also Arnold's overall main arch-nemesis and his worst enemy.
In the series, he was voiced by Carlos Alazraqui. In the film, he was voiced by Alfred Molina.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He stole the corazon from the green-eyed-people.
- He was implied to have been spying on Arnold during his life as a child.
- He kidnapped Eduardo and stole his identity in order to kidnap Arnold and his friends.
- After he lures Arnold, his friends (Gerald, Helga, Phoebe, Harold, Stinky, Sid, Rhonda, Eugene, Curly, Nadine, Brainy and Olga) and his teacher (Mr. Simmons) to his hideout, he reveals his true nature as he then tells them that they are his prisoners.
- After he revealed his true nature, he locked the gates from the path of the camp to prevent anyone from escaping.
- He tricks Arnold’s friends into believing that he is working for him, despite the latter also being lied by him. But they did forgive Arnold in the end.
- He was implied to have killed his men whenever they failed him.
- He added a tracking device on Arnold, in order to have him take him to the green eyed people without his knowledge.
- He got his entire crew killed to avoid the booby traps and find Arnold for himself with no concern or sympathy for them.
- He used one of his men as a shield to prevent himself from being killed by the darts.
- He threatened one of his men to go in the trap by using his sword.
- When five of his men refuses to follow him for using two of them in the traps, he tricks them by having them follow inside the trap.
- When Arnold told him that the corazon is the cure for sleeping sickness, he refuses and instead takes it, despite at least being aware that it would cure people, condemning the entire civilization to fates worse than death.
- When he noticed that The Village is full of Green-Eyed Children, he decided on using the treasure and bring people in the city to sell all of it to them.
- He attempted to kill the girl queen by using the same dagger for throwing it at him.
- He took Arnold hostage and to kill him if he doesn’t open to Corazon.
- He attempted to kill Eduardo by using the poison dart.
- He was willing to throw Arnold of a cliff to get the Corazon back, even if it means he might not come back out of spite and greed for ruining his plot. This shows how he was an outright monster with completely no remorse for his crimes and even his own river pirates that were injured or killed on process.
- Despite refusing to allow Curly to be a spy because he's too loco even for villains like him, this wasn't confirmed to be out of genuine standards.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He has some minor comedic moments where he is sometimes not taken seriously, such as not telling Rhonda the password for the Wi-Fi, and telling his men to change it and not to forget to write it down after she figures it out, or using his fake beard to impersonate various people once found out. However, he is mostly presented seriously throughout the movie, so this is a minor prevention.
Trivia[]
- He is the only villain from Hey Arnold! to be Near Pure Evil.
- Not only he is the arch-nemesis of Arnold Shortman, he is also an extreme threat to him, his friends (Gerald, Helga, Phoebe, Harold, Stinky, Sid, Rhonda, Eugene, Curly, Nadine, Mr. Simmons, Olga, Abner and Eduardo), his family and the green eyed people.
