Percy Jackson... Your destiny was written long ago.
~ Kronos.

Kronos is the main antagonist of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. He is the youngest son of Ouranos and the father of several Gods. He is the king of Titans and is known as the Lord of Time. To the Romans, he is known as Saturn. After having been imprisoned in Tartarus, he attempted to conquer Olympus and enlisted Luke Castellan to be his new vessel, though he was eventually defeated and his reign permanently ended.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close To Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He conspired with his mother and brothers to kill their father, Ouranos. While Ouranos was a terrible father, the manner in which Kronos killed him was far too brutal, as he cut him into pieces with his scythe.
  • He spread the remains of Ouranos into the ocean as an insult to Oceanus for not helping him in killing their father.
  • While ruling as the King of the Titans, he would often go around the world and speed up the lives of random plants, animals, and humans, taking sadistic pleasure in watching them age and wither away.
  • Though he initially planned to be a good father to his children and not be like his father, after learning his children were more powerful immortals than the Titans, Kronos devoured all of his children to ensure they couldn't overthrow him one day, despite his wife, Rhea, pleading with him to spare them.
  • While he did free the Hekatonkheire and Elder Cyclopes from Tartarus after their father's death, he eventually had them re-imprisoned in Tartarus just because he couldn't stand their stench and the noises they made.
  • He led the war against his children in the First Titanomachy, which lasted eleven years.
  • After being imprisoned in Tartarus, it is implied by Poseidon that Kronos attempted to manipulate others into helping him escape Tartarus for thousands of years.
  • He manipulated Luke into working for him by having him steal the Helm of Darkness and the Master Bolt in order to start a civil war against the Big Three: Zeus, Poseidon and Hades.
  • Kronos manipulated Ares into helping Luke with his plan, which resulted in Ares nearly getting Percy, Annabeth and Grover killed by Hades and Ares nearly killing Percy himself.
  • Kronos punished Luke for his partial failure with terrifying nightmares.
  • He attempted to manipulate Thalia to join his side so she could burn the entrails of Ophiotaurus, which is said to be capable of bringing down the Gods of killed.
  • He uses Luke's body as a vessel until his original body is reawakened from Tartarus. Then, after reawakening, he slows down time around Percy, laughing and mocking him before he tries to kill the demigod.
  • He had his forces lead the attack on Camp Half Blood, getting several demigods killed and forcing Daedalus to sacrifice himself to destroy the Labyrinth.
  • He attempts to destroy Olympus in order to weaken the Gods enough to kill tem and usher in a new era where he rules again and humanity is forced back into caves.
  • He had Oceanus engage in a year-long war with Poseidon to keep him occupied, severely weakening the God of the Sea and getting thousands of mermen killed.
  • Though he decided to give Atlas a second chance, he had him punished for his failure of stopping Artemis and the Hunters by forcing him to keep the sky lifted.
  • On the Princess Andromeda, he tries to force Percy to surrender to him by threatening to kill Charles Beckendorf.
  • He unleashes Typhon as a means of occupying the Gods while he attacks Olympus, with him rampaging across the country and presumably getting many humans killed.
  • He has the Clazmonian Sow unleashed to weaken the demigods while his army finishes them off.
  • He expresses disgust at the United Nations building due to not believing humanity could ever unite, planning to tear down the building after having conquered Olympus.
  • He has Ethan Nakumura unleash the Drakon while the demigods are wounded, which results in the death of Silena Beauregard.
  • When he meets Chiron, he mocks him and tells him to step aside, derisively calling him "son" as a way of insulting him.
  • When he arrives at Olympus, he proceeds to destroy all of the architecture and statues of the Gods out of spite, and prepares to destroy all of the thrones of the Gods.
  • When Ethan attacks him, he sends him plummeting to his death.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Evil?[]

  • As undeniably heinous as his actions are, he fails to meet the massive heinous standard of the series compared to his parents, Gaea and Ouranos, not to mention several of the Gods have abused or abandoned their children and siblings, though some of them (like Zeus) have the justification of having Kronos for a father.
