Kohei Sawaki is the main antagonist of the anime movie Detective Conan: The Fourteenth Target/Case Closed: The Fourteenth Target. He is a sommelier and an old friend of Kogoro Mouri and Eri Kisaki. However, in reality, he is trying to kill everyone who caused him to stress and ruined his career as a sommelier.
In the Japanese dub, he was voiced by Ryusei Nakao, who also voiced Frieza in the Dragon Ball series.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He orchestrated a plan to kill the 4 people who ruined his career (Hiroki Tsuji, Katsuyoshi Asahi, Nana Osanai and Minoru Nishina). To make his plan work, he started to target Kogoro Mouri's acquaintances one-by-one so it would look like Jo Murakami is out for revenge against Mouri for putting him in prison. Since Murakami had a grudge against Mouri in the past, Kohei took advantage of this to make Murakami takes all of the blame and put his plan in motion. While he has a somewhat understandable motive for killing Osanai, His motives for his other 3 targets are insanely petty in comparison. One made a bad joke at his expense, and the other two didn't really do anything to him at all and were targeted simply because of how serious he takes his own job.
- He attempted to kill Juzo Megure with a crossbow when he was jogging in the park.
- He sent a box of poisoned chocolate to Eri Kisaki, which nearly killed her when she ate the chocolate thinking it was a present.
- He came to Hiroshi Agasa's house and threw rocks into the window to lure Agasa out. He then shot Agasa's leg with a crossbow, injuring him.
- He knew Hiroki Tsuji, one of his targets is going for a helicopter ride, so he swapped Tsuji's eye drops with pupil dilation drops so when Tsuji look at the sun when riding the helicopter, it would blind him and cause the helicopter to crash-land. All of this happened and there were 4 people who got onto the helicopter (Conan, Kogoro, Megure & Tsuji). The helicopter crash-landed onto Teitan Elementary School and exploded. Luckily, no one was injured. However, Tsuji had to withdraw from the US Open Tournament.
- His actions lead to Mouri contacting to his acquaintances and all of them headed to the Aquacrystal Restaurant.
- Before everyone came to the Aquacrystal Restaurant, he murdered Katsuyoshi Asahi by drowning him in the aquarium.
- Caused a blackout within the restaurant and murdered Nana Osanai by stabbing her in the back.
- Attempted to drown Minoru Nishina by blowing up and flooding the restaurant. This also nearly caused the others to drown as well.
- When everyone finally got to a safe place, he tried to offer a CPR to save Nishina. In reality, he was going to cover Nishina's nose and mouth so Nishina would suffocate.
- When Kohei was confronted with his crimes, it was eventually revealed that he killed Jo Murakami. When he first met Murakami, he introduced himself as Mouri's friend. While Murakami showed remorse for what he had done in the past and wanted to apologize to Mouri, Kohei offered Murakami a drink and then strangled him to death while he was drunk.
- It was also revealed that he invited Mouri's acquaintances, including Peter Ford and Eimei Shishido to fill out the missing spots in his plan of vengeance.
- When Kohei was about to be arrested for his crimes, he showed zero remorse for what he did, saying he didn't care if innocent people got hurt and tried to blow up the Aquacrystal Restaurant.
- He then attempted to take Ran Mouri hostage so he could go kill Hiroki Tsuji. After Sawaki kills Tsuji, he planned to kill himself and take Ran down with him.
- When his plan to take Ran hostage failed, he tried to commit suicide to evade justice, before getting saved by Kogoro Mouri, who told him that he must live to repent for his crimes.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He has a sympathetic backstory, as he was formerly a professional sommelier, and had to quit the job he dreamed and worked so hard for, due to suffering from ageusia because of the amount of stress he has gotten from the following people:
- Nana Osanai, who caused a hit-and-run, which Sawaki was her victim at the time.
- Katsuyoshi Asahi, who didn't know how to preserve wine properly.
- Minoru Nishina, who acted like he knows everything about wine when he doesn’t and spread his words to the mass like they’re the truth.
- Hiroki Tsuji, who made fun of Sawaki and sullied his reputation as a sommelier.
- While his backstory doesn’t completely justify all of his crimes, it does somewhat explain why he was motivated to do such a thing.
- He fails the high heinous standard of the anime universe to:
- Gin, a high-ranking member of the Black Organization who participated in many assassinations, smuggling, kidnapping, and other crimes.
- Teiji Moriya, who placed bombs in public and tried to destroy his past architectures because they were asymmetrical.
- Keisuke Yamao, who attempted to flood a village full of innocent people with the same resources
- Leon Lowe, who bombed Marina Bay Sands, a populated hotel, which could've potentially killed countless innocent civillians.
- Plamya, who tried to bomb Shibuya, which would have resulted in death of thousands.
- However, given that he was willing to have people unrelated to his grudges killed and his crimes are quite personal to Kogoro Mouri, this is a minor prevention.
