“ | Vegeta, you come from a strong bloodline and you possess the potential power to join the super elite of all Saiyans. Never forget where you're from and train very hard, my son, because if you've proven yourself worthy, perhaps someday you will become a Super Saiyan. | „ |
~ King Vegeta. |
King Vegeta is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside King Cold) of the Dragon Ball franchise. He is the ruthless king of the Saiyan race, the father of Prince Vegeta and Tarble, the father-in-law of Bulma and the paternal grandfather of Trunks and Bulla. Despite being dead before the franchise even began, his actions led to countless deaths across Universe 7.
He was voiced by Banjō Ginga in Japanese, who also voiced Customer Service in Kirby: Right Back at Ya! and Terry Klassen, Brian Drummond and Christopher R. Sabat in English.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He's responsible for the creation of numerous villains thanks to his actions, with all of them causing huge waves of destruction and becoming vital threats to the Z-Fighters and countless innocent people's lives.
- He orchestrated the Tuffle genocide to gain power for himself, becoming king and naming the planet with his own name, which led to future antagonists like Dr. Raichi, Hatchiyack, Dr. Myuu, Baby, Hell Fighter 17 and the Shadow Dragons menacing the Z Fighters.
- He was the one who turned Prince Vegeta and the rest of the Saiyans such as Nappa into the evil and ruthless people they started out as, meaning his actions indirectly led to the deaths of Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, Piccolo, Kami and many more during Vegeta's time of villainy.
- Fearing he would take power for himself, King Vegeta ordered Broly's execution, while mercilessly ignoring Paragus' pleas and blasting him. He then stabbed Broly as a baby and threw him in a pit to die with Paragus, which directly caused Paragus to seek revenge against his son, Prince Vegeta, and resulted in Broly becoming a dangerous psychopath to the point of wanting to kill Goku for crying when he was a baby and even going as far as to almost destroying Earth and killing Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Videl and Krillin in the process.
- Allied with King Cold to conquer and destroy several planets for the Planet Trade Organization.
- Exiled his youngest son Tarble from Planet Vegeta merely because he saw him as an embarrassment to the Saiyans because he never wanted to fight anyone.
- Killed one of his own soldiers for not being able to conquer a planet.
- While his death at the hands of Frieza was a bit brutal, he completely deserved it for all the atrocious things he did.
- His actions of allying the Saiyans with the Frieza Force indirectly led Frieza to destroy Planet Vegeta in fear of the Saiyans surpassing him, thus setting up the events of pretty much the whole franchise.
- Despite the Dragon Ball franchise's astronomical heinous standards, King Vegeta still stands out for becoming a corrupting influence for multiple villains throughout the franchise.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He genuinely loved his son, Prince Vegeta, and spent his last moments trying to save him from Frieza.
