King Magnifico is the main antagonist of KolkoCat's rewrite of Disney's 62nd full-length animated feature film Wish, which serves as a milestone celebration for the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company.
He is the king of Rosa who grants wishes once a month, but keeps the wishes that he doesn’t grant to increase his power. He is the archenemy of both Asha, his former tour guide, and Starboy.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- His song with Amaya implies that they have committed crimes prior to the rewrite, as it describes their love for being ruthless and defeating enemies.
- While granting wishes, he began hoarding some wishes and consuming them to increase his power, despite knowing that doing so left the person who granted the wish in misery.
- When a crowd of people questioned what happened to the wishes, he attempts to gaslight them before using persuasion magic to force them into submission. He would also throw a tantrum later about their questioning, calling them ungrateful.
- While interviewing Asha, he loses his temper when she questions why he kept the ungranted wishes before attempting to use persuasion magic to brainwash her, only for her to be unaffected thanks to Starboy. He then demoted her at the Wish Ceremony because of this.
- When Starboy and Asha attempt to start a rebellion against Magnifico for causing the people misery, Magnifico uses persuasion magic to force the townspeople to comply.
- When Simon confronts him, he convinces him to betray his friends so he can have his wish granted and no longer be miserable.
- When Asha, Starboy, their friends, and some animals sneak into the tower to confront Magnifico, he sends Simon and his guards to kill them.
- When Asha, Starboy, and Dahlia confront him and Amaya, Magnifico uses his magic to beat Starboy to the brink of death before throwing him off the tower to finish him off.
- After Asha accidentally throws Amaya off the tower in self-defense, Magnifico injures and/or kills Dahlia out of spite.
- He throws Asha to the ground and begins torturing her with magic, and presumably would’ve killed her had Starboy not intervened.
- While he was polite to Asha when interviewing her, this was only because she helped his publicity and he ultimately still attempted to kill her.
- While he did keep his deal with Simon, this was out of pragmatism so he could stomp out the rebellion.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- While he subverts any possible care for his kingdom, he still cares for his wife and right-hand, Queen Amaya, to the point that he flew into a rage when Asha accidentally killed her.
Trivia[]
- The KolkoCat's rewrite of Wish version of King Magnifico is perhaps the closest depiction of how his canon counterpart may have been if the idea of Queen Amaya being an antagonist too had been used in the finished film, as depending on how was their relationship gonna be portrayed (with the artbook mentioning Carmela and Tony Soprano of The Sopranos as an inspiraction), the canon King Magnifico could have very well been Near Pure Evil if Amaya hadn't been rewritten.
