His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
In General[]
- While one could argue that he is a well-intentioned extremist, due to him claiming that he wants to make the Bohnekraut Kingdom great again, he is, in reality, a delusional hypocrite who seems to only really be motivated by his hatred of commoners and tourists, as he calls them disgusting peasants.
- His final words before his death also prove that he only sees the people as something that he can control, further adding that his intensions are mere delusions.
- His plan would also make the kingdom’s condition worse, as Ludwig points out that his empire wouldn’t last long at all without the money or the people to maintain it.
- While he did show affability towards Ludwig and his brothers, this becomes subverted when Ludwig tries to go against his plans and when he orders Midbus to kill the other Koopalings when they attempted to steal the Green Star from the Oblivion Cannon’s reactor.
- Although he has some comedic moments, most, if not all of them, come before his reveal, where he is taken completely seriously.
- He used to genuinely love his wife, Sofia Eisenhower, to the point where he divorced his cousin, Gunthilda, he’s uncle forced him to marry after he died just so he could be with her. However, he subverts this when he conspired to kill her because she didn’t agree with his plans.
- He manages to stand out as one of the most heinous characters in the series, with him trying to commit what’s accentually genocide on his own kingdom, destroying an entire city full of innocent people and killing Ludwig’s mother, something that broke him when he found her body.
Background[]
- He and Fawful conspired to have his wife Ludwig’s mother, Sophia, killed because she didn’t agree with their goals and eventually executed her and Reinhold, as their bodies are seen in the sewer when Ludwig falls down there.
- At an unknown point in time, he had Midbus kill his first four children for unknown reasons.
Bowser’s Koopalings[]
- He planned to use the Oblivion Cannon to eradicate the middle and low-class population of the Bohnenkraut kingdom and all of the tourists from the Koopa Kingdom who were attending Chuckola Fest so he could build his Bohnenkraut Empire.
- When Ludwig pleads with him not to go along with his plans, Johann rejects he’s pleas and sends his guards to capture him.
- He attempts to shoot Ludwig with the Drain Gun (which would have sucked out Ludwig’s life force) when he tried to escape, but ended up accidently shooting Commander Jeurgan, his best guard, and felt no remorse for it.
- He seemed sad when Ludwig escaped. However, he was only sad because he lost an heir and not because he realized that what he was doing was wrong.
- In the same scene, when one of his guards asks him about his other four children, Johann describes them horrific little monstrosities before Midbus reviles that he killed them which was likely under Johann’s orders.
- He ordered Midbus to kill Ludwig’s sibling when they tried to steal the Green Star.
- He orders Fawful to activate the Oblivion Cannon and fire it at Karhar City, completely destroying it and killing everyone in it, including children.
- When Ludwig points out that he destroyed the city and killed a lot of innocent people, Johann simply dismisses their deaths by saying that no one will remember them and that he’s empire is going to build a new and better city.
- When Ludwing insults him and his father, Johann angrily orders his solders to kill him.
- After his plans are foiled, Johann attempts to kill both Bowser and Ludwig and actually succeeded in killing the former (though Bowser was revived with the power of the Green Star) and brutally wounded the latter before he was killed.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He holds respect towards his father, Johann XVI, as shown when he gets angry and wants Ludwig to be killed after he calls him and his father failures.
