Kai Anderson is the main antagonist of American Horror Story: Cult, the seventh season of the horror series American Horror Story.
He is the leader of the cult FIT which he created through luring in members using manipulation and charisma tactics by preying on their insecurities, situations, etc. Anderson uses the cult to help him progress with his ultimate goal of taking over the world.
He was portrayed by Evan Peters.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He terrorizes Ally several times by having some of the members of his cult encounter her while disguised as clowns and attack her on some occasions. One of these would lead to her accidentally shooting a Mexican man that comes onto her doorstep out of paranoia of there being an attacker and her not controlling herself out of fear, which lead to her getting a lot of controversy from people.
- As step 1 of his plan to start a movement and to become a councilman himself, he provokes a group of Mexicans into attacking him by racistly mocking them with a racist version of La Cucaracha before tossing a condom that he filled with his own piss in front of them at them and then incriminating them by secretly getting the act of them beating him up filmed as the ones striking the first move and gets them sent to an ICE detention facility while he is portrayed as the victim.
- As payback for declining the offer he made at the councilman meeting, he leads an attack on his house and brutally kills him and his wife by stabbing them to death while disguised as horrifying clowns/demons.
- He then targeted another couple with his cult by trapping them in caskets before killing them as well.
- After paying a group of people to show hate towards Ally and gang up on her, he comes in to pretend to save her and get rid of them in an attempt to trick her into trusting him.
- He has members of his cult take a hamster that Mark and his wife gave Ally's son, Ozymandias, as a gift pet and cruelly kill it by blowing it up in a microwave.
- He preys on people he comes across' insecurities in order to manipulate them into joining his cult and helping him commit crimes to help him achieve his goals.
- He manipulates and subtly pressures Harrison into killing his boss for his mistreatment towards him as his first crime and step to joining Kai's cult and covers it up by telling all his employees and friends that he will be out of town for an emergency and got the security footage of the last 3 days deleted by a virus.
- He leads a couple more kills on a female news reporter and cameraman by coming up to them while they were filming for the news and brutally slashing them to death in order to get Beverly Hope to believe in him.
- After manipulating Gary into joining his cause by taking advantage of his xenophobia, he manipulates him into freeing himself from the pole his arm was chained up to by sawing it off before taking him for voting even though he could have used painless ways to do this like going to his grocery store to get materials to free him instead.
- He leads another attack on Bob Barnes for the intent of killing him while filming it like a satanic ritual being performed and when Bob informs him of the gimp he has in the attic, after going upstairs with his cult members to see it, instead of releasing it like one suggested, Kai proceeds to brutally kill it by stabbing it and then causing the hooks it's attached to to rip it open before finishing it off with another stab causing the gimp to cry out in pain, an act that disgusted some of the cult members there, most notably Ivy Mayfair-Richards.
- He then proceeds to lead the kill against Bob Barnes while filming it in a similar fashion to a satanic ritual and landing some slashes on him with the cult members while allowing Beverly to get the finishing blow for personal vengeance.
- As punishment just for being hesitant to help kill the couple in the caskets and suggesting not to kill the gimp at Bob Barnes' house, viewing him as a threat to them, Kai has his cult brutally kill RJ by torturing him to death by inserting nails into his body with a nail gun, even forcing a reluctant Ivy to go first to make up running away before they killed Bob with it, something she was shown to be disgusted at.
- After Ally reveals to Councilman candidate Sally that Kai is the leader of the cult that has been committing various murders, Kai leads a break-in into her house while she was talking with Ally and then kills her by shooting her in the chest after posting a forged suicide note on Facebook to make it look like she committed suicide.
- He manipulates Meadow into believing that he loved her and gaslights her telling her she is nothing in the eyes of the unenlightened world and then has her go to Ally as a witness and tell her the truth about what's been going on, knowing that no one will believe anything Ally says and has her pretend to try to assassinate him at one of his speeches and then kill a few more people before killing herself. After this, he doesn't show remorse, smiling while lying on a hospital body carrier table after it's been done and when called out for this, he calls her a troubled soul.
- He lies about Harrison coming up with the idea for the name of their cult of "Men Lead, Women Bleed" to Winter, causing her, Ivy, and Beverly to kill him for his misogyny (and also for in a way contributing to Meadow's death).
- While Winter reveals that Kai saved some victims who were being tortured and brutally killed by a man named Pastor Charles, Kai subverts this with the actions he commits, committing brutal murders himself and not committing any heroic deeds like this anymore, in a way making him a fallen hero.
- In order to get a savior to carry on their mission, Kai tries to get her to engage in sexual intercourse with Samuels whom Kai would have sex with himself so that they would get a child who would be said savior though Winter would defy this order due to the feeling she has of being raped by this.
- After learning that Vincent tried to get him committed from Ally, he had him brought to him tied up and proceeded to kill him by stabbing him right beneath his throat, with his pleas falling on deaf ears to him.
- After learning from Winter that Beverly Hope killed Samuels and that she intended to target Kai next (which is a lie), he has her be taken to the isolation chamber with the intent for her to suffer, believing death would've been too good for her.
- While trying to get his cult to drink Kool-Aid which he tricked them into thinking was poisoned to prove their loyalty to him, when Pus Bucket defies him, Kai has Gary shoot him to death, which also nearly kills a couple of people near him.
- When Ozymandias points out the flaws of his story by revealing information on Wikipedia contradicting it, Kai has him be "put in timeout."
- After setting up a plan to kill a thousand women, he and members of the cult trick Gary into going inside while surrounding him before revealing to him the plot to kill him for a cause before proceeding to do so after convincing him to accept his fate for him by stabbing him to death with said members in an attempt to frame Senator Herbert Jackson.
- After Bebe scolds him for enraging everyone instead of unleashing "female rage", Kai reveals his misogynistic intentions to her before she tries to kill him though he would be saved by Ally.
- After being tricked by Ally into thinking that Winter was the mole and the one who planted the bug, he killed her by choking her to death albeit with reluctance and regret over having to do it due to his care for her.
- After deciding that killing a thousand pregnant women is too hard due to it being hard to find them, he decides to go for a hundred instead and attempts to send his cult to carry out the massacre as well as kill off their husbands first should they interfere only for Ally to expose him and his cult to the FBI, getting Kai sent to prison.
- After one of the prisoners gives him a beat of a beating, he has another prisoner whom he enrolled in his cult kill him before killing said prisoner himself to avoid suspicions of him killing the other prisoner after convincing him to accept his fate.
- After Ally ratted him out, while talking to her on the phone, he swore to her that he will kill her while forcing her son, Ozymandias, to watch.
- In order to initiate his escape from jail plan, Kai proceeds to kill Trevor by stabbing him to death and cuts his face off to trick the prison into thinking he was killed before having Gloria, a security officer whom he managed to manipulate into enrolling into his cult, take him out while he was dressed up as a security guard.
- Upon arriving at one of Ally's speeches, he attempts to kill her to destroy hope for women by shooting her only to discover that his pistol has no bullets due to Ally managing to get Gloria on her side and ends up being killed by Beverly Hope who shoots him after Ally stands up to him.
- Despite claiming that his actions are done for the greater good and to fight against oppression, this is just a farce to hide his true more selfish intentions to gain power.
- While he does act somewhat kindly to his cult and the members of it with him having helped some of them out with their situations, this is just pretense as he really sees them as nothing more than tools for him to use for his quest for power and is willing to sacrifice them for his plans without hesitation or remorse.
- While he does have laughable moments, such as stating how Sally's fake suicide note on facebook "Already getting some likes", or mimicking trump with chips, none of them detract from his villainy and his actions are still taken seriously in-universe.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He has a tragic past where he witnessed his mother killing his abusive father before killing herself which serves as a partial motivation for his actions as he admitted during one of the moments where he sits by his parents' corpses inside his room that part of his actions were so that he could be someone to his mother, even stating all he wants to do is make them proud.
- He has people he cares like his mother for instance with him developing hatred for his father for being the one who caused her to kill both him and herself, having moments where he sits by her corpse and mourns her, and admits that part of his motivation was to be someone to her and showed care for Winter as well as while he wasn't above punishing her for not complying with his orders like when he forced her to clean up recyclables and then dump more recyclables onto the planet since he doesn't believe in global warming as punishment for not going along with him trying to impregnate her with Vincent's help, he has moments where he shows affection towards her letting her know how much he loves her and was very sad at having to kill her when he mistakenly believed she was the mole who put a bug into his house for the FBI and showed deep remorse after doing so, sobbing and kissing her on the forehead after killing her and upon discovering she was not the mole, he was completely devastated and lamented over how he killed her for nothing.
