Josef is the titular main antagonist of the Creep franchise.
He was portrayed by Mark Duplass.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Make Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- His first victim was at the age of 15, when he strangled a man to death who wanted to bury him alive. While this murder could be justified as it was in his own defense, it was this that led Josef to realize that killing people was his thing.
- He lured several cameramen to his home, then killed them and filmed their deaths.
- Although he claims to be a cancer survivor who is close to dying from a brain tumor and will shortly have a son named Buddy, in reality this was a lie to fool Aaron himself.
- He constantly scared Aaron for his amusement.
- If the story he tells Aaron turns out to be true, Josef raped his own wife (or his sister), Angela.
- He sent several videos and boxes to Aaron just to let him understand that he knew of their location. He even went so far as to break into his house and cut a part of his hair while he slept.
- He killed Aaron after telling him that he wanted to talk to him after everything that happened between the two of them.
- He continued to murder more people after Aaron's death, killing a total of 39 people.
- He kill Dave by slitting his throat.
- He tried to kill Sara by forcing her to stab himself in the stomach and then burying her alive in a hole he had dug despite having promised not to kill her in 24 hours.
- He films Sara while she is on a bus, which largely implies that his attempts to kill her have not yet given up.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- Even if he was as willing to kill him as he was with the rest of his victims, he still showed some genuine affection and appreciation for Aaron, the victim from the first movie. Right after killing him, he wondered why Aaron hadn't turned back to see him, until he realized that the real reason he didn't do it was because Aaron thought he was a good person and would never hurt him, something that really moved Josef who referred to Aaron as the best person he has ever met in his life, and who will always have a place in his heart. He even put a heart on the DVD in which he dies, made a necklace with the photos of him and Aaron as a token of his appreciation for the one he kept in the second movie, referred to him as quite sweet and friendly and even uses the name of Aaron in the second movie as a kind of tribute. All this shows that he really did like Aaron despite everything.
- He has moral agency issues due to the fact the movie shows repeatedly he is on some level insane, to the point where, in the first movie he seems to think Peachfuzz is a real person. However, in the second movie, he appears to understand his actions on some level, showing he's not completely insane. The Creep Tapes reveals Peachfuzz to be a figment of his dissociative identity disorder.
- He is shown to be manipulated and worsened by his mother in the season finale of The Creep Tapes who displays a clear awareness of his psychological state yet chooses to intensify his deranged nature as opposed to finding him help.
