| “ | One thing I can say for sure, he deserved his sentence. | „ |
| ~ Miles Edgeworth on Joe Darke |
Joe Darke is a minor antagonist in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, in particular being the posthumous overarching antagonist of the fifth case, Rise from the Ashes. He is a business-man who snapped and went on a killing spree after accidentally running over someone in an accident. He is the culprit of the SL-9 case.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- After accidentally killing someone in a traffic accident, he murdered a man who witnessed it, a lady who witnessed this second crime, a child who was walking by the crime scene at the time, and a jogger who stumbled upon the site where he buried the bodies.
- After getting interrogated by Damon Gant and Neil Marshall, he held Ema Skye, a 14-year-old child, hostage and threatened to kill her, attempting to murder Neil Marshall after he saved Ema's life.
- Even though Damon Gant framed him for killing Neil and resulted in him getting the death penalty, he is still not a scapegoat due to him having previously murdered four people, and Edgeworth even told everyone that Darke deserved his sentence.
- Despite the high heinous standards of Ace Attorney, he still stands out due to killing a child while also having a higher kill count than almost every other villain with zero resources, with all but one of them being direct kills.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He suffers from insufficient characterization, as all we know about him is that he was driven out of paranoia from witnesses noticing his subsequent murders.
Trivia[]
- Joe Darke has the most confirmed kills of any villain in the original Ace Attorney Trilogy.
- Darke is also the only posthumous character in Ace Attorney to qualify as Near Pure Evil.
