James Thomas, A.K.A "The Couples Killer" is the main antagonist of the Criminal Minds episode "Compromising Positions". He is a serial killer who forces couples to have sex in front of him before killing them.
He was portrayed by Craig Sheffer.
His evil ranking[]
What makes him close to Pure Evil[]
- When his wife got pregnant by Richard Johnson, he shot him.
- To make the crime even worse, the man allowed him to keep the baby and Thomas willingly made himself impotent, meaning he is responsible for what happened.
- Killed 3 couples by forcing them to have sex with items such as Viagra and condoms and then stabbing the wife and watching the husband watch as they die from gunshot wounds.
- One of the couples, Paul and Debra Wilson fought back, and after killing the husband by shooting him in the stomach several times, he allowed the wife to undress before shooting her point blank.
- Implication by Reid could give him 3 more victims, male or female.
- Getting angry at men and woman kissing and having sex, he massacred 8 men, injured several, and attempted to kill dozens more.
- Attacked Dunley's bar and intended to shoot the employes and civilians before being stopped by the BAU and Emily Prentiss.
- While Criminal Minds heinous standard is massive, enforcing 3 rapes before stabbing and shooting, shooting and murdering 8 men at a party, attempting to kill everyone in a bar, and only having two weeks for his crimes, gives him a unique rap sheet.
What prevents him from being Pure Evil?[]
- He genuinely loves his wife Mary Ann as the reason he lost control is because another man impregnated her, and his last words were "Tell Mary Ann I love.." to which Emily Prentiss said she will.
