The world is weak. Soft. We have forgotten what it is to be strong. You know our heroes used to be gods. And now our heroes are godless. Weak, feeble, diseased. We let the weak dictate to the powerful and we are shocked to find ourselves adrift. But history knows the value of sacrifice. Of culling the herd so that it stays strong. Over and over, the lives of the many have outweighed the lives of the few, this is how we’ve survived. And we've forgotten... and now the bill has come due. Now, the collapse is upon us, and this time the lives of the few outweigh the lives of the many. And when a nation that's never known hunger or desperation descends into madness, we’ll be ready. We will cull the herd. We will do what needs to be done.
~ Jacob's monologue to the Junior Deputy.

Jacob Seed is one of the three secondary antagonists of the 2018 video game Far Cry 5, and a major antagonist in the Far Cry 6 DLC, Joseph: Collapse.

He is the eldest brother of the Seed family, and one of the three heralds of the Project at Eden's Gate. An army sniper and veteran of the Gulf War, Jacob was forced to cannibalize a member of his squad in order to survive, which led to him developing a social darwinistic view of the world, that the weak existed only to serve the strong. As one of the leaders of the Project, Jacob is tasked with training and militarizing the cult, as well as using the Bliss drug to create specially-trained wolves called "judges".

He was voiced by Mark Pellegrino.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Prior to the events of the game, he sacrificed his partner Miller to the wolves in order to survive.
  • Reunited with his brothers and foster sister, who founded the "Eden's Gate" sect, he joined this sect and began with them to commit mass atrocities and torture of completely innocent people, and he himself enjoyed it.
  • Brainwashed the Deputy with music and made him kill innocent people without realizing it, causing Helper to shoot his ally Eli.
  • Forced Pratt to work for himself.
  • He left Pratt to die in a room after he betrayed him in an unsuccessful attempt to save the Deputy.
  • In general, he is the evilest of the brothers and does not represent as much of a religious or open character as the other members of the family.
  • Even after his death, he continues to haunt the main characters beyond the grave, as Pratt's experiences with Jacob caused him to develop the same ideology of culling the weak.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Although he is less tragic than John and Vera, he still has a sympathetic backstory: he was beaten by his abusive parents when he was a child, and had to protect his brothers from them. After their parents were arrested, he and his brothers were sent to be raised by other guardians, who Jacob claims treated them like animals. He could no longer endure anymore abuse, and one night he woke up his brothers and took them out of the house, before proceeding to set it on fire, and killing his guardians. After serving his prison sentence for this, he enlisted in the US Armed Forces, following which he suffered from PTSD. He was declared unfit for service and was eventually sent to a military hospital. After he ran out of money, he ended up at a homeless shelter until Joseph and John Seed found him and recruited him.
  • He sincerely loves and cares for his brothers Joseph and John, as well as his adoptive sister Rachel Jessop.
  • Although he is saner than Joseph, he still suffers from moral agency issues, as his experiences from war traumatized him and impaired his ability to understand the significance of death.

Trivia[]

  • The description for Jacob’s rifle (the MBP .50 variant you unlock upon killing him) further emphasizes his kill count, as it is states you’d need to use it “a lot” and surpass Jacob’s kill count to call it your own weapon.
