What makes him close to Pure Evil?[]
- Over 5 years and while moonlighting as a carpenter, he lured in teenage girls at grocery stores with the lure of giving them marijuana. When he does kidnap them, he brings them to his workshop and tortures them to death with his carpenter tools, also implying to have raped them. He buries 12 bodies under his workshop after dismembering them and 6 either under his mother's floorboards or a client's house.
- Believing that his 2-year-old son Riley was a loose end after Sarah Mason made an anonymous call to the police, he attempted to order his murder. He was not killed but he was separated from his family for the rest of his life with no recollection of who his actual parents were.
- Along with him, Sarah herself was sent to death row for "killing" her son and for being an "accessory" to Jacob.
- When SSA Aaron Hotchner and Jennifer Jareau asked him to tell the families where the remaining 6 bodies were, he opted to make a deal that if he lost a game of cards, he stated the location of a body, and if he won, he gets to sniff JJ's hair. Even after losing the game, he said that there were no more bodies.
- After being told that Sarah's execution date would be delayed, he told them where the body of Riley was, only for it to be one of his other victims
- Despite being executed in his final moments and learning that Riley wasn't dead, the damage was already done as Sarah was still sentenced to be executed by electric chair.
What prevents him from being Pure Evil[]
- He was emotionally and sexually abused by his mother at a young age, though considering how much it has nothing to do with his murders, it's a fairly minor prevention
- Since his serial rape is only possible instead of confirmed, he just barely manages to fail the heinous standard to villains such as Lee Mullens and Ben Bradstone.
