He was portrayed by Stuart Wilson.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Even while a cop, Travis already had a reputation of being "one hell of a brutal cop" and could "beat a confession out of anyone." He had many suspensions, reprimands, and charges of misconduct.
- He then became an illegal arms dealer by using his still-valid access to the police storage to steal weapons and sell them on the street and the black market for profit, resulting in the deaths of several people, including a teenager named Darryl.
- When his henchmen Billy and Smitty attempted to rob an armored truck, Jack had Smitty drowned and buried alive in cement and used his LAPD credentials to find the imprisoned Billy and shot him to death.
- He even makes jokes about both of their fates, saying that now he and Smitty "have a relationship (they) can build on" and called Billy "a dead issue" after killing him.
- At the hockey game, Travis terrorizes the stadium by opening fire, wounding Leo, and barging through everyone to make his escape.
- He then kidnaps Captain Ed Murphy and has him drive to his secret underground subway hideout, killing a police officer to get in, showing Murphy all around the place, before handcuffing him and leaving Hatchett to watch him and kill him afterwards.
- When a shootout in the underground subway of Los Angeles, Travis manages to kill Edwards with his armor piercing bullets. He then starts a public car chase and opens fire repteatedly on Riggs, nearly killing several construction workers in the process.
- When a fire starts at the construction site, Travis has his men open heavy fire on Riggs, Martaugh, Lorna, Getz, and anyone else who comes.
- Travis then sadistically and repeatedly shoots and wounds Lorna to near-death, almost killing her.
- Travis then beats and injures Riggs before attempting to squash him to death with a digger.
- While Jack Joshua and Peter McAllister from the first film have a minorly higher kill count, Travis has less resources and still stands out for his brutal murder of Smitty and causation of Darryl's death.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He fails the Heinous Standards to the second film's villains, Arjen Rudd and Pieter Vorstedt, who kill more people, are flat out white supremacists who have presumably committed atrocities against black people in apartheid South Africa, and have a much more personal animosity with the protagonists than Travis by killing Martin Riggs' wife before the events of the previous film.
Trivia[]
- Jack Travis is, alongside Peter McAllister and Jack Joshua, one of only three Lethal Weapon villains to be Near Pure Evil.
