You can't save her, you can't save anyone! Leon: Give it up Krauser! Being a Lackey for these maniacs won't bring your men back, and what the hell for!? Revenge on the Government!? You'd think they would want that?! Krauser: Revenge? You think I'm doing all this... for revenge? Leon: Isn't that what this is all about? Krauser: You see, in that jungle. I had a revelation. The most important thing in this world is pure, unadulterated power! Los Iluminados have given me that. Leon: You know you were always an asshole. But at least you had some code. Some Honor! He was portrayed by Mike Kovac.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- After the U.S. Government covers up Operation Javier, he went to the Los Illuminados Cult in the Valdelobos Village in Spain, helping them use the Las Plagas to take over the world.
- Kidnaps the President of the United States's daughter Ashley Graham, and shoves her in a container where she is then shipped over the atlantic to Spain, where she is held hostage.
- After Graham has been taken hostage, he takes a dominant species Las Plagas parasite, allowing him to keep his free will and gives him soem superhuman abilities.
- Helps Osmund Saddler attempt to spread the plaga worldwide through Ashley,
- Stabs Luis Serra Nevarro in the back with his knife in front of Leon, for defecting from the cult, mortally wounding him and steals his dominant species plaga parasite sample which Luis was meant to give to Ada Wong.
- Has a knife fight with Leon and was about to kill him but Luis turns out to be alive and is about to shoot Krauser in the head, but the bullet deflects off his knife then Krauser leaves, and Luis dies.
- Shows up by Ramon Salazar's side and takes a severely plaga infected Ashley to the Island, leaving Salazar behind to deal with Leon
- Sets up a battleground just for himself and Leon filled with traps and turrets. Leaving a recording to Leon for them to end what happened two years prior in Operation Javier.
- Meets Leon on the battlefield and mocks Leon for not being able to save anyone, which Leon retaliates by calling out Krauser's reasons for joining the cult, but Krauser simply says he isn't doing it for revenge on the U.S. government but simply for power, and Los Illuminados gave him that, then the two begin to fight to the death
- Upon Leon getting the upper hand, Krauser mutates his arms with the plaga inside him and begins fighting Leon again, but loses, and gets killed.
- Even towards his death he shows no remorse for everything he's done. Just telling Leon to kill him.
- Unlike Saddler, he has a full moral agency, meaning he was completely aware of his crimes.
- Although Resident Evil has a very high heinous standard, Krauser passes, because he is planning on helping Saddler and the Los Illuminados cult, release the plaga parasite worldwide and put billions in a FWTD by killing their free wills while himself, Saddler, Salazar, and to a lesser extent Mendez, would be the only ones with free will, not for Saddler's well intentions, nor Salazar's attempt for "atonement" but rather for simply just for more power, that's it. it's also said that Krauser is crucial to Saddler's plan because, without him, Saddler wouldn't have been able to get Ashley for his plan.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He has a tragic background, He was originally a good albeit harsh soldier who went on the Operation Javier mission in 2002 leading a group of soldiers including Leon, but most of the soldiers got brutally killed with himself & Leon being the only survivors. after that, the incident was covered up by the U.S. Government which made Krauser feel abandoned and go down his dark path to begin with, even Leon who finds Krauser's actions inexcusable, sympathizes with Krauser to some degree. He's more heinous than the original, but more sympathetic.
- He cares for a few people.
- He cares for his fellow soldiers who died in the Operation Javier mission as he kept their dog tags inside one of the tents on the island and their deaths are why Krauser went down a dark path to obtain more power.
- He respects Leon, in his final moments Krauser tells Leon that he trained him well and calls him by his name instead of "Rookie" before he dies.
- His death is played for sympathy, with Krauser not being able to hold his knife with his mutated arms and beseeching Leon to end his misery, ultimately accepting his death.
