This was a mistake and it happened a long time ago. I paid for this!
~ Landsness pathetically downplaying his crimes.
How to do it?! How to do..
~ Ivan's last words before his demise.

Ivan Landsness is a minor antagonist in the 2007 horror film Saw IV, the fourth installment of the Saw franchise.

He is a serial rapist who got away with his crimes years ago thanks to the help of his lawyer, Art Blank. Eventually, Landsness becomes one of the criminals targeted by John Kramer, aka the Jigsaw Killer, for the test of Daniel Rigg.

He was portrayed by Marty Adams.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He brutally raped at least three women and beat them close to death.
    • The beatings were so brutal that some viewers mistakenly believe Ivan actually did kill the women due to how bloody they appear.
  • He kept photographs of the naked, half-dead women so he could get off and even made a video recording of at least one of the rapes.
  • He had no remorse or shame for his actions, lying that he had paid for them long ago when he never actually spent a day in prison and claiming he was sorry when he never bothered to get rid of the photographs or video, showing he was not actually remorseful and still kept the evidence for pleasure.
  • Despite the Saw franchise having a ridiculously high Heinous Standard with Mark Hoffman killing a city's police force and putting people into the brutal traps, John Kramer putting dozens of people into his traps and having many of them killed in a very brutal way, Cecilia Pederson scamming 34 dying patients which resulted their deaths and willing to torture an innocent child by bloodboarding at him as an attempt to kill him out of pure sadism, Logan Nelson killing Edgar Munsen and testing him for police to react, both Amanda Young and William Schenk putting people into their inescapable traps, Ivan has way less resources than them and has his uniquely disturbing actions such as brutal rapes and assaults.
  • While his death was brutal, he absolutely deserved it for how horrible of a person he is.
  • Even John Kramer, who was already a serial torturer with no remorse over who he's killed, is even disgusted by his crimes.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He genuinely loves his pet dog Chance, as he's seen hugging and kissing her while telling her she's a good girl. When Daniel Rigg attracted and lured her to the bedroom, Ivan noticed that she was gone, got worried and looked for her, showing he never betrays his pet.
  • It was also seen that he was affable, since he was also abused.

Trivia[]

  • Ivan Landsness is, alongside Mark Hoffman, one of the two Saw villains to be Near Pure Evil.
