Hilda Van Der Koy is one of the two main antagonists (alongside the Shaman) of the 2024 dystopian action comedy film Boy Kills World. She is a powerful dictator and the matriarch of the Van Der Koy family and a powerful dictator who rules over a city for decades. It is later revealed that she is the mother of the protagonist, Boy.

She was portrayed by Famke Janssen.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • She takes full power over a city and instills an oppressive regime over its citizens, forcing them to abide by her rules or face severe consequences and keeping many in miserable poor conditions.
  • She kills any dissidents in order to maintain order and introduces an annual ceremony known as "The Culling" where she executes her political enemies and their families. She runs her oppressive regime for decades, being responsible for the deaths of countless people. Because of her, the population lives in fear and misery.
  • She attempts to mold her son known as "Boy" into a killer and her enforcer. Upon capturing The Shaman, her enemy who had killed her husband, she puts a gun in her son's hands and takes hold of him, making him kill the Shaman's wife and two children despite them being innocent, traumatizing Boy in the process. When she tries to make Boy kill The Shaman, he freaks out and starts shooting all over, allowing The Shaman to escape before running away himself and crying, horrified by what his mother made him do. The Shaman then abducts Boy, cuts out his tongue, deafens him with heated metal, and brainwashes him into a killer, all of which Hilda is indirectly responsible for having made happen.
  • She turns her daughter, June 27 into her enforcer and a ruthless killer.
  • She goes into hiding in fear of The Shaman coming after her and allows her wicked sister, Melanie Van Der Koy to run the activities in the city and control the families PR business. Under Hilda and Melanie, The Cullings continue despite Hilda having no enemies left to kill, meaning now random innocents are taken off of the streets to be publicly murdered. While in hiding, she is indirectly responsible for a mass murder of civilians caused by her brother and brother-in-law.
  • She ends up coming out of hiding and introduces a Culling where numerous innocent people are brutally killed in front of a live audience, Boy being one of the intended victims.
  • After Boy escapes and goes to the bunker where Hilda is hiding, she reveals that she is his mother, having not realized this initially. When she believes her son's mind is completely lost due to The Shaman's brainwashing, she orders her daughter to kill him.
  • She is fully responsible for the events of the film. In addition to having established a brutal and repressive regime, she set things off the plot by forcing her son to kill The Shaman's family, which caused The Shaman to kidnap, torture, and brainwash Boy into seeking revenge against the Van Der Koy family for himself.

What Prevents Her From Being Pure Evil?[]

  • She has genuine care for her children and husband, being angry over her husbands death which resulted in her going after The Shaman and his family. Despite her efforts to turn her children into killing machines, she displays love for them, showing affection and crying when she is reunited with her son after believing he was dead and being upset by the fact that he was tortured and brainwashed by The Shaman. Even when she fears that his mind is lost and orders her daughter to kill him, she does so tearfully and is saddened by the situation.
