Helen Cutter is the main antagonist of the British science fiction drama Primeval. She is the ex-wife of Professor Nick Cutter, who was presumed deceased eight years prior to the show, only to return in the present-day through the Anomalies, having been time-traveling through them. However, she is revealed throughout the series as a villain with a misanthropic vision whose goal is the elimination of humanity.
She was portrayed by Juliet Aubrey.

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Had an affair with one of her own students, Stephen Hart, who would later become her husband's best friend after her disappearance.
- Abandoned her husband and other human connections to travel through the Anomalies without letting any of them know what had happened to her for eight years, leading them to presume her dead and mourn her before the story's start. It's implied she cut her husband out of her discoveries out of resentment and spite over their marital problems.
- Refuses to share any of her valuable information about the Anomalies with the Home Office research team despite their insistence that her knowledge could help them save lives, instead duping the team into taking her to a new Anomaly which she uses to escape into another time period while leaving the Home Office with nothing.
- It's also implied that Helen might have deliberately sent the deadly parasite-infected Dodos that subsequently came through the Anomaly to the present to trigger a deadly outbreak out of spite at the Home Office, though it's completely ambiguous if this is indeed the case.
- Draws the Future Predator family to the present, albeit seemingly on accident while she was fleeing them for her life, which leads to the Predators killing numerous civilians and Home Office military personnel.
- Helps the Home Office team to combat the Predators and launch a manned expedition into the Permian in search of the Predators' original Anomaly to the future, while hiding her true reasons for helping them: rather than being motivated by any kind of philanthropy, she only helped them so she could use the expedition to locate an Anomaly to the future for her to explore for the first time.
- When Cutter realizes this and rejects her in disgust, she is completely unapologetic.
- After the Permian mission fails, Helen returns to the present solely to offer Stephen the chance to join her in Nick's place and rekindle their past affair, callously exposing their long-secret affair to Nick in the process. The latter act causes increasing friction between Cutter and Stephen from there on.
- She later re-establishes contact with Stephen again and tries to re-kindle their past tryst again, fueling the friction between him and Cutter over the first affair.
- She tries to manipulate Stephen into turning against the rest of the ARC organization by convincing him that James Lester instead of Oliver Leek is the traitor on the team, manipulating Stephen's personal biases.
- After becoming aware of the timeline change that led to Claudia Brown being erased from the present and replaced with Jenny Lewis while Helen and Nick were unaffected in the Permian, Helen intends to experiment even further on an even more radical scale with the Anomalies' potential to create alternate timelines.
- She directly assists Oliver Leek with his megalomaniacal conspiracy to use captive creatures to commit mass terrorism across the United Kingdom, providing him with an army of Future Predators and future technology to cruelly control their brains.
- She does turn against Oliver Leek later, and helps Cutter and Stephen to wipe out Leek's rampant creatures before they can threaten the population at large, but only because Leek broke free of Helen's control and because Helen had no other way of escaping Leek's creature-infested bunker with her own life intact.
- Even after Helen loses control of Leek and Leek loses control of his creature army, she still tries to gaslight Stephen into abandoning the present and going through the Anomalies with her by lying to him that Lester has murdered all of his friends, and the only reason Stephen doesn't fall for it is because them stumbling across a very much alive Cutter shatters Helen's web of lies.

- At one point, Helen accuses humanity and the ARK complex of creating the Future Predators, although the project she spread made them much stronger and more aggressive, proving her hypocrisy And that she wasn't really active for the environment.
What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]
- It's implied that her misanthropy and lack of empathy came about due to her years of complete isolation from human contact and seeing many species and ecosystems go extinct while she was traveling through the Anomalies, although this was completely self-inflicted on her part. Her increased heinousness in later appearances was also due to seeing mankind's actions destroy the world in a future timeline. However, these are small deterrents since she is aware of her actions.
- She cares about her husband - Nick and even though she murdered him she shows feelings towards him, completely regrets that she had to kill him and saves him. She also visits her ex-student and lover Stephen's grave after his sacrifice and seems genuinely sorry that he was killed.
