Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close To Pure Evil?[]
- Alongisde side her father Odin, she embarked on a bloody conquest to expand thier power, waging war on the Nine Realms of Yggdrasil.
- She's a sadist that enjoyed every bit of second of murder and atrocities she commited.
- Her ambition eventually led her to turn against her own father, Odin, whom she had once served loyally. In her quest for absolute power, she attacked Odin, attempting to overthrow him and seize control of Asgard, a betrayal that tore apart her own family.
- After her defeat and imprisonment, Odin sought to erase all traces of Hela's existence. While this was carried out by Odin, it was a direct consequence of Hela's actions.
- Ruled over Hel with an iron fist after her banishment, imprisoning countless souls and ensuring they remained trapped in eternal torment. She delighted in their suffering, cementing her title as the Goddess of Death.
- When Odin to send the Valkyries, an elite legion of female warriors to stop her from escaping Hel, she massacred everyone of them.
- Caught and shattered Thor's hammer Mjolnir with her bare hands.
- After destroying Mjolnir, she pursued Thor and Loki as they attempted to escape through the Bifrost Bridge. She easily overpowered them and threw them both into space, leaving them to crash-land on the distant planet Sakaar.
- She mercilessly slaughtered the Einherjar, Asgard's army, and the Warriors Three (Volstagg, Fandral, and Hogun), who tried to resist her.
- After defeating Thor and Loki on the Bifrost Bridge, she seized the throne of Asgard, declaring herself queen. She began her reign by spreading fear and death, forcing the remaining Asgardians into submission.
- Corrupted Skurge, turning him from a lowly janitor into her executioner. She preyed on his fear and desire for power, molding him into a tool for her evil deeds.
- Once she assumed the throne, Hela destroyed the murals in the palace that depicted Odin's reign of peace. She revealed the hidden murals underneath that showcased her own conquests, and battles, erasing Odin's legacy of peace and replacing it with her dark history.
- Resurrected her pet Fenris Wolf and an army of undead warriors known as the Berserkers using the Eternal Flame.
- Planned to use the Bifrost Bridge to expand Asgard's empire across the universe. Her vision was one of endless war and conquest, with no regard for the countless lives that would be lost in the process.
- When Heimdall stole the sword that controls the Bifrost Bridge, Hela ordered Skurge to execute a young, innocent Asgardian woman in front of a crowd.
- This act was meant to force an Asgardian civilian to reveal Heimdall's location.
- After learning the location of the Asgardian resistance, she led an assault on the old fortress where Heimdall and the civilians were hiding. She tore down the ancient gate with her spikes.
- When confronted by Hogun and the Einherjar, Hela slaughtered them without a second thought, killing hundreds of innocents. After that, she impaled Hogun with a spear.
- During the final battle, Hela viciously slashed Thor across the face, blinding him in one eye.
- After injuring Thor, Hela dragged him to the balcony to watch as her Berserkers and Fenris attacked his allies and the remaining Asgardians. She took pleasure in his helplessness, relishing in his suffering.
- Even after Thor regained his full power and struck Hela with a massive lightning blast, she quickly recovered and subdued him again.
- As the Asgardian survivors attempted to flee on a giant ship, Hela, in a fit of rage, she tried to stop them by launching massive spikes at the ship, aiming to impale and kill as many as possible.
- Killed Skurge with a knife after he, in an act of redemption, allowed the Asgardians to escape by sacrificing himself and fighting off Berserkers.
- Taunted Thor by declaring that, even with his full power, he could not defeat her. She then revealed her willingness to hunt down every remaining Asgardian across the universe to complete her goal of absolute domination.
- When Surtur began destroying Asgard, Hela, desperate to save her source of power, unleashed a barrage of spikes to try and kill him, but she fails as he finally kills her for good.
- Even though she lost, her attack on Asgard is what led the Asgardians to flee and abandon it so that they could settle on earth, which would lead to Thanos finding and killing nearly everyone on board the ship in search for the Tesseract, thus sparking the events of Infinity War and everything else beyond that point.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Evil?[]
- In spite of how evil and sinister she is, she cares about her wolf Fenris. When Hela first returns to Asgard, she discovers Fenris' dead body and says, “What have they done to you?” with a tone that suggests genuine sadness. She revives Fenris as part of her undead army, indicating that she wanted to restore him to life, even if to serve her in battle.
- In the What If...? episode "What If... Hela Found the Ten Rings?", Hela is visibly distraught when Odin takes Fenris away from her, showing that she cared deeply for her wolf from a young age. Although this episode takes place in an alternate universe, Hela's backstory shouldn't have changed, since this happened before her path was altered from the original MCU Hela.
- She has a somewhat tragic backstory as Odin molded her into a weapon, giving her little choice in who she became, due to having been used and was abruptly discarded by her father once he suddenly didn't like what they were doing anymore.
- After being raised to conquer, Hela was cast out and isolated for centuries, which only deepened her bitterness and desire for power. This long period of loneliness contributed to her downfall. Her What If...? episode also implies that she had the potential to become a better person.
- While he remarks their father had a right to imprison her for her ruthlessness and that she was the worst to be his successor, Thor also held some empathy for Hela, having too shaped his identity on Odin's expectations.
