The Bishops... my family. Have they not suffered enough? Have I not suffered enough? We fought, pathetic vessel. We bled. We grieved. And yet the Red Crown wants more. No more.
~ Heket's first encounter with the Lamb if Leshy's still alive.
Heket, please accept our sacrifice and bless us with fertile soils and bountiful harvest. Keep the famine at bay!
~ A follower of Heket as they prepare to sacrifice someone to her.
Another Bishop struck down; Heket ruled for an aeon, afeard by none. Her dominion being of famine, her peons, now freed, are ravenous in their appetites. Tread warily, lest thou be predated upon.
~ Haro to the Lamb if they return to Anura after Heket has been killed.
I am not inclined to emotion, the way your kind are. Though if I were, Heket would certainly inspire amusement. She was perhaps the most vicious of them. Wicked beast.
~ The Mystic Seller after the Lamb defeats Heket a second time.

Heket is one of the main antagonists of the 2022 roguelike action-adventure game Cult of the Lamb. She's one of the Bishops of the Old Faith, the ruler of Anura and the Deity of Famine.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Alongside her siblings, she controls the cruel cult of the Old Faith and had her followers sacrifice countless people to her.
    • What makes her particularly bad compared to the other Bishops is what happens to her victims: they are fused with giant mushrooms, still alive and struggling to escape, which essentially is a fate worse than death.
      • Even if the whole process were to lead the people inside the mushrooms to be completely absorbed and die, it's clear that it's a painfully slow process.
  • She clearly doesn't care about her followers, having them commit suicide to empower herself and not caring that her transformation accidentally kills even more.
    • It's also clear that her rule over them overall isn't beneficial.
  • It's implied that she and her siblings killed the other deities that used to inhabit the Lands of the Old Faith.
  • Alongside Leshy, Kallamar and Shamura, she chained away her brother Narinder, turning him into The One Who Waits. While The One Who Waits definitely isn't a good person, Heket doesn't seem to have trapped him out of good intentions but simply because he was a threat to her and the other Bishops' power (although she does seem more delusional compared to her siblings).
  • Alongside her siblings, she killed all the predecessors of Ratau and the Lamb.
  • When a prophecy foretold the demise of the Bishops and the reawakening of The One Who Waits, she and her siblings killed all the lambs in the Lands of the Old Faith to try and prevent it.
  • When the Lamb is revealed to still be alive, Heket attempts to kill them.
  • She casts famine upon the Lamb's cultists twice.
  • As an undead, she attempts to kill the Lamb once more.
  • While she's eventually converted to the Lamb's cult, this isn't a redemption since the cult is morally grey at best and Heket still shows some hostility towards the Lamb.
    • While she can do things like getting lovers or giving compliments to the Lamb, these are just default actions all followers have, thus making them nothing more than something for gameplay purposes (with Heket this is especially evident since she says default quotes normally, even though her unique quotes show that she's barely able to speak at all as a follower).
  • She's overall the Bishop who's the most directly hostile towards the Lamb, and even The One Who Waits and the Mystic Seller consider her vile.

What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • She clearly cares about her siblings (minus The One Who Waits). For example, she is furious she after Leshy's killed and doesn't want to bother Shamura due to the latter's head injury.
  • She seems to respect the Lamb, expressing gratitude for getting to see her realm one last time and easing her pain.
