~ Hal Jordan shortly before killing Sardath, while also revealing his true colors |
“ | After the experiment went haywire, Sinestro infected me with an alien parasite. He called it "the Parallax entity". He thought it would bend me to his will, but instead, it opened my eyes. It filled me with a new purpose. For too long, I've been blind to the corrosive effect of war and conflict. I saw clearly that I was the one destined to change it. I could be a better guardian than the guardians. It was no use for them anymore. After Sinestro saw my truth and genius, he became my main acolyte. With this weapon, I can fulfill my true purpose. I can wipe the universe clean and create a new one, better one. Like a god! | „ |
~ Hal Jordan revealing his backstory and true plans |
Hal Jordan, later known as Parallax, is the main antagonist of Green Lantern: Beware My Power, the fifth installment of the Tomorrowverse.
He is a former member of the Green Lantern Corps who immediately betrayed them after receiving the Parallax entity from Sinestro. Falling into villainy, Jordan goes after his former teammates and plans to remake the universe in his own image.
He was voiced by Nolan North.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Immediately after receiving the Parallax parasite, he, along with Sinestro, slaughtered the entirety of the Green Lantern Corps (except for Ganthet, who fled to Earth with the ring assigned to John Stewart), leaving Oa as a desolate wasteland.
- He took the rings from the deceased Green Lanterns to become all-powerful, later making Sinestro submit to him and become his acolyte.
- He allowed the Rann-Thanagar conflict to keep going, causing millions of deaths, while posing as Sinestro’s prisoner to avoid suspicions.
- When talking to the heroes about the Zeta Beam weapon, he knew that Sinestro could be hearing them (which exactly what Sinestro did), yet he didn’t warn them about it.
- Although he helps the heroes in fighting back Sinestro's forces, this isn't considered as redeeming because this was part of his façade to hide his true intentions, and even then, his methods of fighting were highly questionable at best, as he killed several of them without remorse.
- Although many of them were killed by Hal Jordan off-screen, it isn't considered as off-screen villainy since we can see their dead bodies.
- What’s worse is the fact that he and Sinestro were allied, which means that Sinestro’s forces were his allies as well. This indicates that Hal Jordan didn’t care for the lives of his own allies.
- The way Hal Jordan killed them indicated that something was off about him.
- He killed Sardath right after the latter willingly gave him the codes for the Zeta Beam weapon. Hal Jordan planned to use said weapon in his attempt to destroy the universe and remake it in his image.
- He fired the Zeta Beam weapon so it would destroy both Rann and Thanagar. This had an impact later on the film as Adam Strange chose to sacrifice himself to redirect the beam to somewhere it couldn’t do any damage.
- He attempted to have John Stewart join him, and when the latter refused, he brutally beats John Stewart down, only not killing him because Green Arrow interrupted the fight.
- When Green Arrow attempted to talk him out of his plan, Hal Jordan only ditched any possible care he may have had for Green Arrow before resuming his fight with John Stewart.
- When John Stewart defeated him, Hal Jordan attempted to kill him out of spite, which forces Green Arrow to kill him (Hal Jordan) in order to put a stop to his plan.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He has moral agency issues because of the Parallax parasite, but this is a minor prevention considering that Hal Jordan shows clear sadism in his actions.
