Haiji Towa is a major antagonist of Danganronpa: Ultra Despair Girls. He's the leader of the resistance against "The Warriors of Hope", a group of children who were killing adults in Towa City for it to become a children's paradise.
Although seemingly heroic, his desire for revenge against the children and his bloodlust against them turned him into a full antagonistic role, while also heavily implying that he has pedophilic tendencies.
He was voiced by Shin-ichiro Miki on the Japanese version (who also played Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII) and was voiced by Matthew Mercer in the English dub (who also portrayed Silas Briarwood from The Legend of Vox Machina).
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He is one of the people responsible for Monaca becoming the monster that she is by abusing her physically and psychologically.
- His role as a protector of the adults is purely self-serving, as he's trying to cover up his involvement in Monaca's reign of terror as well as hide from the consequences. He blames her and Junko for his failings and is a knowingly cowardly and inept leader, trying to hide rather than protect.
- When stating that Komaru and Toko were too old for him, he said he prefers girls to be as young as possible.
- To rub salt on the already-heavily-bleeding wound, the art book for Ultra Despair Girls implies that he would be sexually attracted to Kotoko Utsugi (an elementary school aged girl who already suffered multiple sexual assaults) if it was not for her personality.
- He emotionally abuses Nagisa when he has a mental breakdown. Despite Nagisa's attack on him, Komaru, and Toko, it comes off as cruel and heartless, especially since Nagisa was not a threat at this point. He also jokes about Nagisa's "death" later on in the game.
- He tried to force Komaru to break the controller, not caring that destroying the controller would kill all the children who were not to blame for their crimes and would cause a war.
- He attacked Toko Fukawa for taking the controller away.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He fails the heinous standard compared to his sister Monaca since his worst deed was planned by her, and she has more crimes than him, and since he didn't sexually assault any girls, he narrowly fails the standards.
Trivia[]
- Some fans have speculated that, due to his pedophilic "preferences" and Monaca having grown up around him, that Haiji may have taken the opportunity to sexually abuse Monaca. If this were ever confirmed, it would most likely be enough to bump him to Pure Evil.
