~ Gurney while running off Bullworth gymnasium after setting fire to it. |
Gurney is a supporting antagonist in the 2006 video game Bully, serving as a major antagonist in the fifth chapter.
He is a high ranking member of the Townies clique, possibly the third-in-command and a former student at Bullworth Academy. Long before the events of the game, Gurney was expelled from there for unknown reasons, but still assists some students there along with his fellow Townies, such as Gary Smith.
He was voiced by Dave Isaacs.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Prior to Jimmy Hopkins' arrival to Bullworth Academy, he was expelled from there for unknown reasons, most likely doing some offenses bad enough to make him not be able to stay there.
- Several pieces of exchange, even from Gurney himself, seem to indicate that he is a dangerous and hostile person, which is also likely the reason he was expelled from Bullworth Academy.
- Even in his minor roles and free-roam, he maintained being generally violent and cruel as he constantly harassed and bullied Bullworth students, including beating up Rudy the Bum Santa.
- Under Gary's orders, he broke into the Bullworth gymnasium and set fire to it while there are still students inside, almost causing several deaths.
- Upon being caught by Jimmy in the gym, Gurney bowled him over while gloating about his action, saying that he regrets nothing.
- He attacked and tried to knock Jimmy out to prevent him from getting to his boss Edgar at the chemical plant.
- Despite accompanying Edgar stopping the Bullworth riots, it is most likely not out of altruism but just for assaulting students, as he even attacks Jimmy himself if the latter sticks around him, even though that his relationship level with Townies is 100% and the clique is supposed to help Jimmy.
- Unlike his fellow Townie Edgar Munsen, it is never shown that he feels even slight remorse for his crimes, and he simply gets away with them after it is revealed that all of the incidents are under Gary's responsibility.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- While it's not explored much, he seems to be loyal to Edgar and his fellow Townies, as he shows respect toward them in some of his in-game dialogue, such as asking if they're okay when he bumps into them on accident, instead of insulting and yelling at them like he does with other NPCs.
- He also fails to meet the Heinous Standards of both Gary and Edgar, as burning the gym was done under their orders. However he, alongside the extremely lazy Leon who likely wouldn’t do a solo mission, are the only Townies that can use firecrackers, making this a weak prevention.
Trivia[]
- He is the only character from Bully to qualify as Near Pure Evil.
