General Shanker is the main antagonist of Escape from Planet Earth.

He is the tyrannical head of Area 51 who is bent on eradicating all intelligent life from the galaxy. He is in an alliance with Lena Thackleman, an extraterrestrial whom he has tricked into sending him Blubonium, which can power his weapons to destroy every alien planet in the Solar System.

He was voiced by William Shatner. As a child, he was voiced by Joshua Rush.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?

• He became a general and ruled Area 51 and caught aliens and forced them to make technology for earth.
• Captured many aliens and had them frozen.
• Dated Lena and pretended that he cared about her but was only using her and planned to kill her.
• Captured Gary with no hesitation and imprisoned him.
• Put electric collars on the aliens and shocked them when he felt like it.
• Lied to Gary that he would free Scorch and the other aliens if he made technology.
• Planned to destroy every alien planet and kill all of the aliens.
• He was happy to destroy planet Baab first and nearly succeeded.
• Attempted to capture or kill Gary and Scorch using Scorch's suit.
• While he does have some comedic moments, he and his actions are still taken seriously.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?

• He genuinely cared about his father, and wanted to avenge him by destroying all the alien planets.
• He's a well-intentioned extremist as he wanted to destroy all the alien planets to ensure the safety of Earth, despite his very extreme and unethical methods of trying to do so.
