~ The General revealing his true colours stabbing and betraying Rider to prevent her from killing his counterpart. |
The General is the secondary antagonist of the Netflix animated series Centaurworld. He is the human half of the Nowhere King, the leader of the human army and Rider's former idol.
As The General, he was voiced by Brian d'Arcy James. As his original Elktaur self, he was voiced by Brian Stokes Mitchell, who also voiced the Nowhere King.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil[]
- After defusing, it's implied that he put out a search party to hunt down his other half for reasons unspecified.
- After the Elk threatens to reveal his origins to the Mysterious Woman and ruin his relationship with her, the General tries to drown the Elk, only stopping after realizing that if the Elk dies, the General dies as well. As a response, the General kidnaps the Elk and places him in the dungeons in a windowless cell to keep him a secret from her.
- He deliberately prolonged the war by letting the Nowhere King live in order to ensure his own survival. With how many atrocities the Nowhere King has committed that affect the overall narrative (Horse and Rider losing their home and family, Wammawink losing her village as well, the human world being devasted, etc.), the General not ending the Nowhere King puts some of the blame on him.
- Slaying out an untold amount of Minotaurs during his time as a human general in battle. While they were mostly in battle as self-defense and the minotaurs are known to be violent creatures that attack things in sight, the minotaurs are somewhat sentient creatures made from people.
- His efforts to keep himself alive and survive culminate in him near-fatally stabbing Rider (a much younger warrior who looked up to him) in the back before leaving her to die.
- Although the Nowhere King and the General started out as the same being, their differing experiences changed them so that they are now very different people.
- While the Nowhere King causes more direct suffering, not only does he have more resources and is generally a more powerful being than the General, the General is allowing the Nowhere King to go on and bring chaos by preventing anyone from ending the Nowhere King in order to ensure his own survival.
- Despite Centaurworld being a comedic work, the General and his heinous actions are played completely seriously after his reveal, with the only joke not only being shown in a flashback but also exemplifies how much he loathes the Nowhere King.
- His death over falling down a deep cliff isn't played for sympathy and is depicted as him getting the end of what he deserves for being a heinous person.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- His ultimate defeat is played for sympathy, with the Mysterious Woman softly singing while lamenting that she already loved him once as he was, right before having to execute him personally. Still, it's a minor prevention at best as the song is mainly focused on the Elktaur as a whole, and the lyrics at the end refer to the General and his deceitful actions to the woman which are pointed out.
- He has seemingly grown to care for Rider, giving a sincere apology for stabbing her and leaving her to die. There is no pragmatic reason for him to do so, seeing how he intended for Rider to die to stop her from killing the Nowhere King.
Trivia[]
- Megan Nicole Dong, the creator of the show, has stated in an interview that she thinks that the war has lasted for at least about a hundred years, and that mostly the younger generations have survived the war. While Word of God is not taken into account as most are skeptical about this, this confirms that the war is far from recent, and gives scale for how long the War affected the human world.
