This article is for a character that is approved as a Silly Near Pure Evil example, meaning they are a character that fits the criteria while being consistently played for laughs.

Gargaroth the Devourer is the main antagonist of The Amazing World of Gumball episode "The Scam" and a cameo character in the episode "The Compilation".

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close To Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He devoured an innocent soul every year and only agreed to stop if he had a bride.
  • When his bride stood him up, he devoured all the wedding guests out of pure spite.
    • Given the common staff at a wedding, he may have also eaten flower girls and ring bearers, presumably children.
  • When summoned into the mortal world, he tried to induce cataclysm and destroy the world.
  • He tried to eat Gumball, Darwin, and Carrie and kept chasing and grabbing them through the halls.
    • Though they did use his name to scam people to give them candies, this doesn't justify any of his actions towards them since they had no idea he was real and thought he was a myth, with his actions not even being motivated by that.
  • He denied Darwin's attempt at reasoning, which forced Carrie, who, in terms of mental age, is just twelve, to offer herself as his bride.
  • There is no indication that he genuinely cared about either of his potential brides, as his attraction is just his vain perversion.
  • Although the series has very high heinous standards, he manages to stand out due eating all of the wedding guests, which is implied to have caused deaths, attempting omnicide via devouring all of the people in the world, which is a unique way to attempt it and for nearly marrying Carrie, who is emotionally just a 12 year old child, a crime that no other villain has attempted.
  • While he is heavily played for laughs since he talks through farts and has a comedic defeat where he has to be fed with candies in order to explode and stop him from destroying the world, he's still taken seriously by everyone in-universe, with his plan of destroying the world and him almost marrying Carrie being played for horror.
  • Despite being an otherworldly monstrosity, he has moral agency since he accepted to not devour souls if given a bride, showing that he can restrain himself, and nothing suggests that he's made of evil.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Despite having moral agency and eating the wedding guests out of spite, he's still slightly insufficiently characterized as he has no proper lines other than grunts and farts and his personality is ultimately unknown other than the lust of wanting a bride.
