~ Rorke just before he kills Elias. |
Captain Gabriel T. Rorke is the main antagonist of the 2013 video game Call of Duty: Ghosts.
He was the leader of the Ghosts until he and his team were sent to assassinate General Diego Almagro in Caracas and was left behind due to unfortunate circumstances. After being brainwashed, he returned as the commander of the Federation Armed Forces while seeking vengeance on his former comrades for abandoning him. He is also the arch-nemesis of Logan, Hesh and Elias Walker, the latter whom Rorke personally killed for reluctantly leaving him to save the rest of the Ghost team.
He was voiced by Kevin Gage, who also portrayed Waingro in Heat.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- 12 years following his presumed death, Rorke became the leader of the Federation forces invading the United States. He captured his former teammate Ajax and sends him to Firebase Charlie, where he interrogates and tortures him for the location of the Ghosts' safehouse in Las Vegas. After getting the location, Rorke mortally wounded him and left him to be found by the Ghosts just as he succumbed to it and died.
- During his time as the Federation commander, he is also hunting down and killing Ghosts which earns him the nickname "The Ghost Killer", including Ajax, Torch and Grim.
- According to Ramos, Rorke nearly killed a young soldier for reporting in too late during his time in the "No Man's Land".
- He leads an invasion into Santa Monica, California, forcing U.S. forces to retreat and let the city fall, presumably killing dozens of people.
- It is unknown how many people were actually killed. If the number of casualties was indeed from dozens to thousands, it did happen off-screen.
- When Hesh, Logan and Keegan infiltrate a skyscraper in Caracas, Venezuela during Federation Day and interrogate Victor Ramos, who was a high-ranking Federation scientist, Rorke laid a trap for them and detonated explosive charges to cause the building to collapse. This forced the Ghosts to parachute to safety, while the building collapses in downtown Caracas and caused Victor and many men to die, not caring if they survived or not.
- Just before he did, he taunted the Ghosts about their efforts to find him.
- When Rorke was captured and interrogated by Elias, he taunted him about breaking and killing Ajax. After this, he revealed he let himself get caught and a Federation plan attached grappling hooks to their plan mid-air and turned it upside down. Federation soldiers then extract Rorke and let the Ghosts fall from the sky and into the Yucatán Peninsula in Federation-occupied Mexico.
- He had Federation forces salvage the O.D.I.N. satellite wreckage in San Diego and then had Victor reverse-engineer it into a similar orbital bombardment system known as L.O.K.I. so the Federation can use it on the United States and win the war.
- After the mission "Clockwork", Rorke had a soldier killed for failing to stop the Ghosts at the site.
- At Las Vegas, Rorke led soldiers to the Ghost safehouse and sedated them with tear gas. He captured Logan, Hesh and Elias and then interrogated them. He shot Logan in the stomach to provoke Elias and made the two boys watch as he beat Elias. After Logan broke free and tried to pull his MP-443 Grach from his holster, Rorke stopped him and made him shoot Elias twice before knocking him to the floor.
- Finally, he shoots Elias three times and throws him to the floor. As Logan looked on helplessly, Rorke shot Elias's head and executed him immediately.
- After Rorke leaves them and orders soldiers to kill them except for Logan, Keegan helps Merrick, Logan and Hesh escape. Rorke alerted the Federation soldiers and taunted the Ghosts over the speaker.
- During the climax of the game where Rorke is escaping on a train, Hesh and Logan confront him. Rorke attacks him and puts him in a headlock, forcing Hesh to drop his weapon. He then shot Hesh and prepared to kill them both, only to realize the U.S. have control of LOKI and are using it on the trainline, causing the locomotive to crash into the water below.
- With the train sinking, Rorke aggressively tried to kill them both only for Logan to grab a .44 Magnum and shoot both Rorke and Hesh, and the bullet punctures the window and flood the locomotive.
- After somehow surviving this, Rorke ambushes Logan and Hesh while they waited to be rescued. Seeing how everything was ruined, Rorke vowed to destroy the Ghosts with Logan. Out of spite, he drags Logan away to torture him the same way the Federation did to him.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He has a tragic backstory that when he was sent to kill Almagro, Elias was forced to let him fall into the water to save the other Ghosts, where he was later captured, tortured and brainwashed by the Federation through the most brutal methods, causing him to lose his mind and become their field commander. However, this is minor given that he was willing to aid in killing countless people who had nothing to do with his tragedy.
- He has moral agency issues due to him being tortured and brainwashed by the Federation. However, it is minor since he displayed a sadistic and vindictive personality.
- He has some sense of honor and has on a number of occasions shown respect for Logan and admired his talents as a soldier and a Ghost, wanting him to join with the Federation by whatever means.
Trivia[]
- It's unknown if his Mobile comics version would be Near Pure Evil, since Mobile is set in another universe.
