Listen here, I'VE SPENT MY ENTIRE LIFE WORKING HARD FOR THIS! Every day, every night, I put my upmost attention into Kluex, no matter how much EVERYONE LAUGHED AT ME, JUST BECAUSE I'M LOUD AND TAKE THINGS SERIOUSLY! Well, BULLIES, I'm now a priest, so who's laughing NOW?! *laughs* I AM! I AAAAM!
~ Ezalco Starlight.

Ezalco Starlight is the secondary antagonist of Starbound: Rise of the Stargazers. He is an eccentric and petty stargazer priest who wants to convert grounded avians into kluexists, but if they reject his offers, he attacks them. He is very devoted to Kluex, and also works under Xochtal’s orders, helping him in his plan to wipe out non grounded avians.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Over his time with the stargazers, he has brutally sacrificed many many avians.
  • He apparently tried to sacrifice Lexie once, which gave her PTSD of the incident.
  • He has attacked and destroyed dozens of villages, some even belonging to Moonquill, killing most of the villagers there, with a few sacrifices having taken place, and destroyed a lot of the buildings. He at first tries to get them to join the stargazers, but if they refuse, he attacks.
  • When the pilot of his ship accidentally said “Jesus Christ”, Ezalco got angry, thinking that they were disrespecting Kluex, and burned them alive.
  • He attacked an avian village on Solunar Nexus IV under Xochtal’s orders.
  • To make an example of his point of avians gaining wings in the afterlife, he kicked a rabbit and sent it flying.
  • After being defeated by Robin in an avian duel, he dishonourably tried to kill Robin with a knife from behind after she turned away.
  • He helped raid the temple where the Ancient Kluex Staff was, and fought against Ethyl and Azima.
  • He helped Xochtal commit genocide on grounded avians, going along with his plan to wipe them out.
  • During the climax, he tried to kill Tatasia, Nightheart and Moonquill, and later Katsu, Tori and Azima.
  • When Azima offered him mercy, he pretended to take her help, only to kick them both off the ship, with him laughing and taunting Azima as they both fell to their death. Had it not been for Katsu and Tori, Azima would have died from the fall too.
  • While Xochtal and Mika do worse, they have more resources then him.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He has multiple comedic moments that detract from his villainy, such as his petty overreactions over minor inconveniences, and his death, where he falls to his death while giving Azima, Katsu and Tori the middle finger. However, despite these, he is still mostly taken seriously in universe, and is portrayed as a significant threat.
  • Unlike Xochtal, he is genuinely loyal to Kluex, and there is no proof that he is only serving him for self serving reasons. Considering how he was willing to murder one of his own over the slight possibility that they disrespected Kluex, it shows that Ezalco more then likely is genuinely dedicated to what he thinks is serving Kluex.

Trivia[]

  • Ezalco Starlight is one of three villains from Crystallic’s Starbound Trilogy to be Near Pure Evil, the others being Mika Aikawa and Kleriya Offentus.
