~ Exeller to Sally in Sally and Amy's duo ending of Whisper of Soul. |
Exeller is the titular main antagonist of the Sonic.exe: The Spirits of Hell duology, a spin-off to the Sonic.exe: Nightmare Universe franchise.
He appears as the titular main antagonist of Sonic.exe: The Spirits of Hell and the main antagonist of its sequel, Sally.exe: The Whisper of Soul. He also appears as a mentioned antagonist in Sally.exe: Continued Nightmare - Eye of Three.
He is a former Highest born as part of the extinct zero-class who derive their power from the pain and suffering of others. Initially starting his life as a carefree, social and kind soul, Exeller's rage, grief and revelations of his past caused him to spiral into insanity and choose his destiny as a cold-blooded murderer, leading to his eventual death and subsequent resurrection before possessing the body of Sonic the Hedgehog in order to fulfill a prophecy by using the Master Emerald. He is the arch-nemesis of Sally Acorn and the brother of Alice.
He is voiced by DarkBox.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
In General/Background[]
- Even though he was born as a zero-class highest, who are inherently psychotic by nature and need to bring suffering to others to stop themselves from going insane, Exeller is shown to fully understand the consequences of his actions and the concept of right and wrong, as he chooses to resort to killing people instead of simply making others suffer and is an incredibly sadistic character who taunts others' for their misfortune.
- While he does restart the game each time the player doesn't get the true ending, it's only because not getting the True Ending will force the cycle of restarting the timeline until the Best Ending is achieved and only then can Exeller unlock his true goal with the Master Emerald, and not out of any remorse for his actions or sympathy to his victims. In other words, Exeller is only restarting the game purely because the player must reach the Best Ending. If that wasn't the case, he would likely kill all of Sonic's friends and then leave it at that permanently.
- Despite creating them from his blood, he shows no care for Exebi, Execun and Exebark, and although he stopped the latter two from harming Exebi, it's only out of pragmatism, as he claims that Exebi is one of his most important slaves.
- Although Spirits of Hell takes place within the same multiverse as Nightmare Beginning, Exeller is able to pass the heinous standards due to his brutal ways of killing his victims (blasting/cutting in head, smashing their heads in, impaling on spikes, driving insane to the point of murder, suicide and/or cannibalism, and feeding them to Exebark) and his main drive being pure sadism.
- Additionally, every timeline/possible ending in Whisper of Soul is canon, as all 20 endings have to be unlocked in order to get the best ending, which Exeller even taunts the player over, meaning that all of Exeller's crimes in these multiple timelines are canon and he resets the timeline simply for his own amusement.
- Because of the curse put upon him, he was responsible for the deaths of Leroy, Phil, Mia and Laura, although all of these were purely accidental.
- After being shown his true identity and the truth behind his background, he snapped and killed Rikku.
- Took revenge on his bully Wayne by kidnapping him, cutting his limbs off, gouging out his eyes, cutting off his ears and blocking his mind so no one could read his memory. Although he felt remorse for this, it was only brief due to not gaining any power from Wayne's murder, and despite Wayne being a bully who regularly tormented Exeller, he in no way deserved to die in the way that he did.
- After confronting Alice, he killed the King by blasting him in half despite her protests. Even though the King wasn't a good person due to manipulating everyone for his own ends, Exeller still broke his promise of not killing him, with her claiming he could rely on the the suffering of evil mobians to alleviate his curse.
- Tried to possess multiple animals after being reborn as a spirit.
Sonic.exe: The Spirits of Hell + The Prophecy DLC[]
- After stalking Sonic for some time, he leaped from the top of a tree and possessed his body.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He has a genuine tragic backstory. He was originally a good-natured and well-meaning third-class highest who wanted to be Mobius's protector and had friends he cared about. However, he was in reality a zero-class Highest who had his mind manipulated by the King and he have dangerous powers as a "gift" in the form of curses, leading to him accidentally killing his friends Leroy and Mia by cursing them—not remembering them due to having his memories erased—and his eventual girlfriend Laura by kissing her due to romantic relationships being forbidden between Highests, then fully snapping upon discovering his nature thanks to Rikku and the Spirit of Destiny, driving him to kill the King before being betrayed by Alice, resulting in his eventual death and corruption into a spirit upon trying to escape. His need to kill in order to stop himself from going irreversibly insane is also somewhat played sympathetically. While this tragedy isn't too preventing considering everything he's done, it certainly explains and affects him.
- He is shown to care for multiple people:
- Despite denying so and often fighting with her, he does seem to have a degree of care towards Alice, being one of, if not the only person he talks casually and confides his insecurities to, in fact, when he fatally wounds her in one of the endings, he immediately feels remorse for this action and proceeds to heal her, showing this care for her is genuine.
- Additionally, he genuinely loved Laura and was willing to break the rules of the Highests' established hierarchy and rules regarding romantic relationships, and he was struck with grief after she passed away due to the curse he accidentally inflicted on her.
- He seems to have some degree of pity towards children. When he encountered Cream in the forest, rather than taking sadism out of causing her pain like the rest of Sonic's friends he comes across, Exeller genuinely feels bad about having to kill her since she's part of the prophecy, however, given the ways he's willing to kill her, as well as taunting Cream about how she caused her father's death, this is a rather minor prevention.
