The Evil Spirit is a minor antagonist of the Cartoon Network miniseries Over the Garden Wall, serving as the main antagonist of the episode "The Ringing of the Bell". It is a man-eating spirit that possesses Lorna, forcing Auntie Whispers to keep it in check via a bell.
Since it spent most of its screentime possessing Lorna, it was voiced by Shannyn Sossamon.

What Makes It Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- It lived inside of Lorna and took control of her body anytime it wanted to feed.
- This ruined Lorna's life, with Auntie Whispers being forced to enslave and isolate her to prevent the Spirit from resurfacing.
- It ate anyone who got near Lorna, leaving only the bones.
- This has happened dozens of times, as there are dozens of sets of bone in Auntie Wisper's basement, and she refers to them as "the bones of those who have been eaten here before."
- It tried to eat Greg and Wirt, two children, when they were locked in a room with Lorna, grinning sadistically all the while.
What Prevents It from Being Pure Evil?[]
- It lacks characterization, as it only appears for about a minute and only has a couple of lines.
