Errol van Volkheim is a minor antagonist in Cartoon Network television show Courage the Cowardly Dog, serving as one of the two main antagonists of the Season 1 episode "Everyone Wants to Direct".

He is a late film director who was a serial killer back when he was alive alongside his associate Benton Tarantella. Although captured and later released apparently from good behaviour, van Volkheim never truly let go of his murderous ways and waits for Tarantella to resurrect him to resume their snuff enterprises.

He was voiced by Paul Schoeffler.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He went along with helping his fellow phony filmer Benton Tarantella lure 12 total unsuspecting people to their demise thinking they were just making a movie.
  • He and Benton also fully intended to continue their snuff filming and become successful from it.
  • Although he was released on good behavior, it was a facade as he and Benton both planned out their supernatural resurrection in the event of either's death.
  • Revived as a zombie, he not only remains willing to kill but also immediately reveals his new taste for flesh, making him a cannibal.
  • Since the camera belongs to Benton, and thus likely has him or someone else filming the scenes, it's entirely possible he killed some of the victims himself.
  • He would've demonstrated a recorded kill of his own alongside Benton with Eustace recording them both eating Muriel had Courage not changed Benton's script.
  • He only hesitated on eating Muriel out of anger at Benton's script idea, telling him he thinks he's a "lousy writer."
  • Unlike most villains in the series, he has no redeeming qualities.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • His defeat is a bit too comedic for him to be Pure Evil, as he comically bickers with Benton simply for the exact parts of the script change that don't appeal to him despite Benton's repeated protests of it being contrary to his writing. However given that he's mostly a horrific threat, especially as a zombie, this is a minor prevention.
