Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close To Being Pure Evil?[]
- Even though she seems to have a slight crush on Sinbad as she repeatedly calls him "cute" and acts flirty with him, it's not mitigating because her feelings for him don't go any deeper and she admits that she likes him only due to his negative qualities because she thinks he has no heart. In addition, she attempts to have his friend executed, she puts Sinbad in dangerous situations on multiple occasions where he could die and by the end of the film she even makes a brief attempt to crush him to death with her fist before she relents only because she is bound eternally by her promise and returns the Book of Peace and then threatens him not to push his luck with her.
- While she keeps her promises and returns the Book of Peace at the end of the film and subsequently saves Sinbad's life, this doesn't make her honorable because she only does it due to being forced against her will due to making a promise to Sinbad she would give him the book if he answers truthfully to her question. If a goddess gives her word, she is bound eternally and when Sinbad returns to Syracuse to die, he proves that he had answered truthfully to her question, meaning she has no choice but to give him the book. She gets very furious when she realises she has to do it and when Sinbad points out she has to keep her promise, she makes a brief attempt to crush him to death before giving him the book with great displeasure.
- She points out to Sinbad that he had betrayed his friend Proteus by developing romantic feelings for his fiancée Marina, but that doesn't mean she has moral standards. She doesn't feel any moral revulsion by this and she only does it to make Sinbad feel bad about himself and prove to him he is dishonorable.
- While she is the Goddess of Discord and Chaos which means her role is to spread discord and chaos across the world, nothing in the story indicates she has moral agency issues or that she is incapable of changing her nature and she is shown to be able to understand human morality on multiple occasions.
- She is implied to be the creator of the realm of Tartarus which she is the owner of is a dangerous and desolate place filled with homicidal monsters and is infamous for nobody going there and surviving.
- She is conveyed to have regularly caused chaos within Earth and has a whole reputation built around this.
- Seeing Sinbad pursue Proteus for the Book of Peace in his ship, she sends her Kraken Cletus to attack the ship, endangering the people on both ships and presumably killing some of them before Sinbad and Proteus temporarily kill it using the ship's broken mast.
- After Sinbad gets plunged into the water with Cletus taking him down with him, Eris blows a large bubble for him to breathe in and makes an offer to him to give him anything he wants in return for stealing the Book of Peace against his friend Proteus' wishes.
- When Sinbad chooses to try to leave Syracuse with his crew, Eris sneaks into the tower that contains the Book of Peace, disguises herself as Sinbad, knocks out the guard, and steals the Book of Peace while leaving Sinbad's dagger behind so he could get framed for the theft, knowing that this would lead to either Sinbad or Proteus being executed should the book not be returned, her making it clear she expected the latter to be executed in place of Sinbad. This also causes the kingdom of Syracuse to crumble a bit and implicitly endangers the people with them panicking as this happens.
- When Sinbad and his crew sail to Tartarus, she sends multiple monsters their way to endanger them like sirens trying to seduce them to drown them or a giant eagle-like bird monster trying to kill Sinbad and Marina while the crew's ship is frozen.
- When Sinbad and Marina reach Tartarus, Eris sadistically mentions that they are the first people to reach her domain alive. The skeleton of one person is shown for a bit before she causes it to disappear.
- She also mentions that she plans to make the whole world in the exact same way as Tartarus which implies she may have omnicidal intentions.
- She reveals her plan to Sinbad to cause the kingdom of Syracuse to be left without the next rightful king, Proteus, by having him executed so the whole kingdom would tumble into chaos for her own amusement.
- She makes a deal with Sinbad that if he answers her question truthfully, he would get the Book of Peace, her question being if he would go back and die for Proteus if he did not obtain the book. When Sinbad says yes, she assumes he's lying and teleports him and Marina away from the Book of Peace to prevent them from being able to save Syracuse.
- When Sinbad goes back to Syracuse to die, an angered Eris appears, accuses him of being incapable of honor despite Sinbad demonstarting otherwise and even tries to crush him when Sinbad points out that she has to fulfil her promise and give him to book before she relents only due to being bound by her promise and giving the book back.
- After reluctantly giving Sinbad the Book of Peace back, she departs while expressing her intent to continue causing chaos, destroying places, and stealing things.
- While she appears to enjoy referring to her pet monsters affectionately and even congratulates them for their good work, there is no indication that she genuinely cares for them. She also admits to finding Sinbad cute, yet her clear agenda against him remains apparent.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Evil?[]
- She relies too much on Fridge Horror and offscreen villainy to be heinous enough. The crimes she has committed which are more explicit like endangering the crews of two ships and trying to get an innocent man executed are not quite enough since she is an omnipotent goddess with enormous resources and could do much worse.
