~ Electro to Spider-Man. |
Electro is a supporting antagonist in the 2018 superhero video game Marvel's Spider-Man, a mentioned antagonist in its 2020 spin-off Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and a posthumous antagonist in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
He is a former engineer-turned-supervillain who got electrical powers from a freak accident, becoming one of Spider-Man's most common foes since the beginning of his career in 2010. In 2018, Electro is hired as part of the Sinister Six by Doctor Octopus and Mister Negative to assist them in their vendetta against Norman Osborn, in exchange for the former helping him to become pure energy.
He was voiced by Josh Keaton, who also voiced Valtor in Winx Club.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Seeks to fully become pure energy so he can become the most powerful thing in the world and rule over the weak. While Doctor Octopus doesn't think this is possible and that Electro's crazy, Electro's game bio states that if he were to achieve his ambitions, not even the Avengers could stop him, suggesting that becoming pure energy would give him the necessary power to take over the Earth.
- Commits multiple criminal acts at New York City throughout Spider-Man's vigilante career between 2010 to 2018, like bank robberies and several murders from either citizens and cops.
- In the long run, Electro's mass murder of a group of policemen led Peter Parker to quit working for The Daily Bugle, as J. Jonah Jameson claimed that Spider-Man was the one who killed the officers and not Electro, which is why Peter went to work for Otto Octavius, but once Norman Osborn dismantles their operations purely out of spite, leaving Peter without a salary and him getting evicted.
- Joins Doctor Octopus and Mister Negative in their plot to get back at Osborn for ruining their lives by forming a partnership with them, Rhino, Scorpion and Vulture of the Sinister Six upon meeting at the Raft, on the condition that Octopus could give him a special suit capable of absorbing enough electricity to potentially become pure energy.
- Crashes the New York Police Department helicopter of Captain Yuri Wattanabe into the Raft.
- Helps all of the Raft's inmates to break out by opening their cells so they can join the Sinister Six's "party", leading to mass destruction of property and possibly some deaths of both guards and prisoners.
- Brutally beats Spider-Man up with his teammates, in addition to electrocuting him painfully and slowly until Doc Ock appears on the scene and asks them to leave with him so they could unleash the Devil's Breath over NYC.
- Traps several police officers inside a local police station through the use of five power generators, though fortunately Spider-Man comes to the rescue and saves the cops.
- Presumably destroys some of Oscorp's power plants with the Vulture.
- Tries to capture and murder Spider-Man with the Vulture once the dastardly duo find that Spidey wasn't killed like Octopus expected.
- Although he joins forces with Octopus and Negative, he doesn't seem to care for their revenge scheme against Osborn despite, at least in Martin Li's case, what it feels being transformed by a freak accident. The only reason Electro puts up with Octopus is because of his promise of providing with with an energy-absorbing suit.
- While he does have a tragedy in that he used to be a normal engineer who suffered a freak accident at his workplace, giving him his powers, he killed several innocent people with zero remorse and his "tragedy" is barely explored on and isn't played for sympathy like those of Doctor Octopus, Mister Negative or the Tinkerer, so it doesn't really hold up by the end.
- Although he apparently gets killed by Kraven the Hunter offscreen, his presumed death isn't treated with any sympathy, as he was a ruthless and sadistic criminal who got what he deserved like Scorpion and Vulture, unlike with the Shocker, whom Mary Jane feels sorry for and acknowledged that he didn't deserve to be hunted down like a wild animal. Even Kraven says that Electro was a waste of his time.
- While other villains like Doctor Octopus, Mister Negative, Hammerhead, Simon Krieger and Venom do much worse, Electro had fewer resources than all of them.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He seemed to have a genuine friendship with the Vulture, which particularly stands out considering how Octopus and Negative didn't really care for each other or how Rhino and Scorpion butted heads while fighting Spider-Man at the docks. In contrast, Electro and Vulture never exchange insults and try to help each other when they fight Spidey, believing in teamwork and even complimenting each other occasionally. It's also worth noting that if one were to accidentally attack the other while fighting Spider-Man, they would apologize.
- Has a few comedic moments and one-liners that make Spider-Man not take him seriously from time to time, most notably when he partakes in his reference to Rocky. Regardless, this is a minor prevention due to how some of his crimes, like his cop massacre, are taken seriously by the story. Not to mention Spider-Man himself does take him seriously during the chase scene in the Raft to the point of prioritizing catching him above all else.
