Ekrizdis is a posthumous antagonist in the Harry Potter franchise, although he only appears in expanded lore on the official series website Pottermore/Wizarding World. He was an immensely evil dark wizard and serial killer who lived on the isle of Azkaban in the 15th century.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- He used dark magic to lure Muggle sailors to his secluded island before torturing them to death for fun.
- His methods for torturing his victims apparently included exposing them to Dementors, horrific creatures which suck the happiness out of their victims and leave them totally dead inside and can reduce them to soulless husks with the dreaded Dementor's Kiss, which is a fate worse than death.
- Ministry of Magic employees who investigated Azkaban after his death stated that the Dementors were the least frightening of the atrocities they had found on the island, which is significant because Dementors are considered one of the most horrifying things in the wizarding world, so whatever he was doing must have been truly horrific.
- While his actions took place centuries before the main story, they have an effect on the plot as his attracting the Dementors to Azkaban led to Damocles Rowle turning it into a hellish prison where prisoners are fed on by Dementors.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He suffers from insufficient characterization, as he never appears in person and the only sense of his character we get is that he is believed to have been killing people for fun and was probably insane. However, this is a minor prevention as we are told that he was a sadist.
