Thomas "Tom" Smith, better known as the Easter Ripper, is the main antagonist of the survival indie horror game Murder House.
He is a serial child killer and the News 9 cameraman in disguise, whose brother Anthony was wrongfully believed to be the culprit since he turned himself in to protect Tom.
He was voiced by Devante' Johnson.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Would dress up as the Easter Bunny in a mall only so he could kidnap kids and take them to his house.
- Would torture the children by starving them and even tricking some of them by putting razor blades in their food and tricking them into eating it.
- This scarred some of the kids so badly, they stopped eating his food out of fear, leading to some of them dying of starvation. Others would freeze to death inside of the house due to the cold temperatures.
- Raped some of, if not all the kids he kidnapped, with some of the skeletons being seen in "sexual positions" such as their legs being spread out and another one with their hips up, with Emma saying "Something bad happened here" and "I'm gonna be sick" if the player interacts with them.
- If the children he kidnapped survived his torture, he would send them on Easter Egg Hunts and then brutally murder them.
- Is heavily implied to have killed adults as well.
- After his brother Anthony confessed to the killings to protect Tom and was executed, filled with rage, Tom would go on another killing spree at a mall, killing a janitor and a boy named Justin, either murdering him on the spot or kidnapping him and taking him back to his house to kill him there.
- Killed the realtor who was selling his brother's house.
- Killed Dana and Gary, two members of his news crew.
- Attempts to kill Emma while putting her on an Easter Egg hunt.
- After revealing himself to be the Easter Ripper to Emma, while he claims he thought he could control his urge to kill, he admits the urge is back and states he's now going to try and kill Emma with no hesitation or remorse.
- While his death by getting devoured by the corpses of his victims is a gruesome way to go out, it's nonetheless played for satisfaction and karma after all the unspeakable crimes he committed.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He outright states he killed the news crew and put Emma on the Easter Egg hunt to avenge Anthony's unjust death, showing he did love his brother or at the very least, felt some attachment for him. When the captive kids mention having heard two adults arguing, it's implied this was Tom trying to persuade his brother not to turn himself in, fearing for his life.
Trivia[]
- Only the game version counts as Near Pure Evil as his novelization counterpart lacks the care he has for his brother, making him Pure Evil instead.
